"The top ten reasons I recommend Sun Rise Roofing: 10: Sun Rise kept the lines of communication open. Staff responded fully and promptly to requests for information and patiently and reassuringly to statements of concern. 9: The estimator did not use hard sell tactics. He simply made himself available when needed. 8: Sun Rise charged a fair price. Their estimate was neither the highest nor the lowest of nine I received. 7: All employees were unfailingly courteous. 6: The project took as long as was needed. Because it rained for the better part of two days after work began, the project took one week. My roof was completed before Sun Rise focused on other projects. 5: The roofers worked long and hard. They showed up early, began work immediately, and when weather permitted, worked ten or more hours a day. 4: All employees went above and beyond the call of duty. For example, when, in late afternoon on the first day of work, rain was first predicted for following day, the roofers worked into the early evening to ensure that my roof was "buttoned up tight." 3: The owner, an experienced and talented roofer, worked with his crew each day, personally supervising and ensuring high quality work. 2: Sun Rise delivered what was promised. The project began as predicted, the price was as estimated, and the product was as described. 1: Sun Rise delivered high quality work. Indeed, the roofers met and exceeded my exacting expectations. Among other things, TPO seams were tight, pitch was consistently improved, and the worksite was left in a pristine state. Custom work on the mansard roof's coping metal is nothing short of extraordinary."

"Shiloh Alvarado was readily available and he answered all of our questions, phone calls, & e-mails in a professional and timely manner. Shiloh's use of a drone to inspect our roof was an impressive aspect of the roofing installation process. Rocky Mountain Roofing Services LLC did an outstanding job in installing a new "TPO" roof in only 2 days! The working crew was friendly & cooperative. The price that was charged for our roof was fair and reasonable. Rocky Mountain Roofing LLC exceeded our expectations & we happily recommend this company to other prospective customers!"

"SunPro scheduled my appointment and their in house crew showed up on time and installed my panels professionally. Later that day their electrical crew connected my panels to my existing electrical panel. Everyone whom I've dealt with with this company has been helpful and knowledgeable.  Everything was clean, complete and I'm happy with the job.

"I was quite happy with the work preformed by Larry and Over the Top Roofing. This was a new roof due to hail damage. Larry was able to get us a competitive quote and did the job in the time he allotted. The workers were polite and professional, they cleaned their area and the new roof looks beautiful. Highly satisfied with skills & knowledge. Would higher again, in fact, Over the Top is Quoting on a flat roof replacement for our business! Note, images are of the old roof."

"I needed new windows and the most important thing I needed was someone I could trust cause I live in Roswell and needed work done at my property in Albuquerque. I wouldn’t be available to be there the whole time. I found a great company in Just Stucco and Windows. James was on time and did an amazing job. It was professionally installed and his quality of work is top notch. I highly recommend hiring James for all your window and stucco needs. He a high level of professionalism and work ethic. I will definitely be hiring him again and recommend him to everyone I know."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Los Lunas, NM

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
