"I originally contacted Steven to provide an estimate to install a gas line for a new stove. While doing the gas line estimate, we noticed that my water heater was leaking. So I asked him for an estimate to replace that as well. He worked up estimates for both projects. I knew my water heater was old and could go any day, so I asked him to schedule a replacement as soon as he could work it into his schedule. This was on a Tuesday. He arrived Saturday morning with a new water heater and began the project. I had originally ordered a 50 gallon water heater, but we discovered the area where the water heater was to go was not wide enough due to the placement of my incoming water line and a furnace humidifier. Steven called his supplier and was able to switch to a 40 gallon unit. It took only about half an hour for him to return with the smaller heater. The installation went smoothly after that and was finished in a timely manner. Steven was knowledgeable about all of the current local and federal plumbing codes. He had arranged for a city inspector to arrive on the day of the installation. All of Steven's work passed the code inspection. However, the inspector found a small violation from the previous installation. Steven went ahead and fixed that without hesitation even though we was not responsible for the violation. Steven explained how to maintain my new heater and showed me how to ignite the pilot light should that need ever arise. He cleaned up the work area and asked me to inspect the area to be sure it was cleaned to my satisfaction. Steven didn't mind that I was hanging around to watch him work and ask questions. I am very satisfied with the work performed and I have not had any problems with the water heater following the installation. I would highly recommend S"

"We needed to put in an egress window in our basement and there are many reputable companies out there who can install egress windows. However, our basement already had existing wall anchor plates which significantly complicated the egress window install. Complete Basement Systems was the only company willing to take on the project and had experience with such systems. The solution was to remove the wall anchor plates, replace them with wall braces, and install the egress window. Cody and his crew called 1 week ahead of time to verify install details and allowed me to ask questions on how I could prep the area for their work. They set the schedule to arrive at 9:00 AM on day 1 to perform the work, which they arrived on-time and promptly began work. The day they performed the work, unfortunately, happened to also be the hottest day of the year. Cody and his crew work without one single complaint, they worked through lunch without a break, remained professional and positive. Given the extent of the work that needed to be done, they needed to return the following day to complete the install of the window. Cody and his crew worked incredibly hard, were professional, and the quality of their work was excellent. I would not hesitate to hire Complete Basement Systems again for any future work we would need to be done in our basement and would highly recommend them to anyone considering basement improvements/repairs/remodels."

"I had a toilet emergency and Copper Cottage was able to schedule me an appointment for the next day. I received a call from technician Jerad E., an hour and half before our scheduled appointment time with him stating he finished early at his previous appt. and asked if I wanted him to arrive earlier which I said absolutely. Great communication, high efficiency in completing the work. He was finished within a half hour. I used Copper Cottage previously for a couple minor things, and the technician then, Larry W was just as excellent. Copper Cottage will always be my first choice!"

"I was frustrated that they didn't cover our garbage disposal and they didn't cover the thermostat, otherwise everything we did there was great. I didn't have any problems. It's $50 a month, and then everything is covered. You don't have to pay for people to come out. When our hot water heater broke, we had to pay for the new water heater, but that just for the actual thing, not anything else like the service or installation."

"When I called I was given a price quote. Then AFTER the work was finished they told me that they had to cut holes in the wall for vents. This was in a room that has a large doorway where the door is never closed. They added about $200 more to the price. Then I had to pay for an inspector to come look at the work. Another $20 for that and the guy wasn't even here a full minute. <br />"

"Keith at High Tech Home warranties coordinated a repair where a service professional evaluated and fixed an AC unit with a matter of hours. Hugely important in Florida. All the more impressive considering that AC guys must be in high demand with the heat. I was very impressed overall. <br />"

"It was one of the hottest times of the year, and my old A/C and furnace from 1983 had outlived it's life. Ryan S. came and we discussed the right unit for my home. He helped with all the financing and all arrangements. Adam came and had the new system up and running the first day! Both of these gentleman were AWESOME! I can not thank them enough for all the help they gave me and my wife and for the professionalism they used. I HIGHLY recommend this company and I hope for their continued success in the community. Thanks again guys!!!!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Luverne, MN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
