"They didnâ t just come in and paint what they could see. They smoothed out any areas of walls that stuck out. They patched areas with missing and sanded them to ensure a smooth surface prior to painting. They went well above and beyond any other painting service I have ever had done. They were all very respectful of my home and my time. The pricing was much less than I expected. Plan to have them come back when it is time to paint our cabinets in the kitchen as well. Thank you for doing such great work!!!"

"Others came in less expensive, but these folks use a minimum of 2 coats of high grade Sherwin Williams paint. Others used lesser paint and fewer coats. In one room they painted 4 times - plus the primer - to make sure there was no bleed through. All the same price. Loved the comittment to make sure the job looked great."

"I spilled nail polish remover on my dresser and it ruined the finish. Movers nicked one of my night stands very badly and I inadvertently damaged the other one with a candle. I had some minor nicks on my kitchen table and a small imprint (I don't know how it got there) on my entertainment center. I called Furniture and Cabinet Care (after hours ) and Mr. Alvin call me the next morning. He came to my house the next day at the time we agreed upon and assessed the damaged and recommended that I just use Endust on the table and the entertainment center and not waste my money on repair because the damage was minor. He gave me an estimate of $375 to repair the other items. He and an assistant came to my house that afternoon to retrieve my furniture for repair. He called me a few days later and told me that he had to strip the dresser because it reacted with the chemicals he was using. He only charged me for the material and not the labor because he did not know that I put polyurethane on the dresser when I tried to repair it myself. He told me my furniture would be ready the next week and it was. Mr. Alvin restored my furniture to its original glory. He did an excellent job. He was very professional and a very nice man!"

"I called the Design Gallery (based on the reviews I read on this site) and met with Todd, the designer to discuss details of the project to re-face cabinets. The current cabinets were peeling due to a lack of proper staining/sealing. The cabinets were installed 3 years ago when we built our house so we're talking about relatively new cabinets with improper finishing. The cabinets were not top of the line but the framing was in good shape. The cabinet doors were removed and hauled to t he warehouse for painting, glazing, and distressing. The prep time that went into this project was very detailed so our house was "clean" in these areas at all times. Todd and Phillip are very skilled at what they do. It's amazing how they took the old cabinets and make them look so good, so new, and so expensive. I'll be back when it's time to tile the kitchen! <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Macon, GA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
