"Hired to repair and regrout existing outside tile on my porch. Did not finish the job. Tom demanded full payment prior to finishing the job. Threatened to remove the work with a grinder. Very rude, unprofessional and unreasonable. I had to hire someone else to clean the grout residue from the floor. Terrible experience."

Small jobs welcome

"I originally requested a Saturday appointment, but the technician repeatedly texted me to move it to Friday. Although he eventually agreed to the 3:45 PM time slot today, he canceled exactly at the time of the appointment, claiming he could not find the location. I have noted a significant language barrier but explicitly instructed him to use GPS. I believe his claim that the GPS failed is false and that he canceled because he lacked the time to complete the job. I found the experience extremely unprofessional and stated that if he had been honest about his availability, I would have hired someone else. "

"Jeremy at ST&S was the epitome of professional but he was also very friendly. The work he provided is beautiful and his prices were extremely fair. As with all projects things changed as we went along and I found Jeremy to be flexible. If he said he would be at my house at 7am, he was always punctual. A couple weeks after the project was completed there was a small problem with the granite. I texted him, he contacted the company and arranged for the issue to be corrected. Our kitchen was completed in the time frame he originally projected. He is an honest business man. You will not go wrong when you hire ST&S!"

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Madison, GA

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
