"They were quick and professional. They cleaned up after themselves and everything looked GREAT! My only complaint was lack of response to phone messages."

"Custom Christmas Lighting put lights on 3 large evergreen trees in our development. The installation and removal was done quickly and professionally. But the highlight was seeing the beautiful trees lite up each evening. It was a beautiful sight and it was improved by the heavy snow that we received. It looked like a Norman Rockwell painting! I highly recommend Custom Christmas Lighting!"

"I worked directly with Kevin and he always answered calls, texts, and emails promptly. He took the time to make sure I understood what was happening or what was about to happen. The project’s costs were higher than some of my other estimates but I felt good about his knowledge and his personality. He also did not go over his estimate. There were a few spots on my house that couldn’t get cleaned. Kevin seemed to take the defeat personally and was disappointed he couldn’t get the gunk off the house. I liked that about him - that he wasn’t like, “Oh well!” and then on to the next project. Whatever the stains were, they had been baking in the sun for over 20 years so I don’t believe a product exists that can remove it. I didn’t fault Kevin for this. It is what it is. The rest of the house looks immaculate. I had a video doorbell that got water damage and started malfunctioning after the cleaning. That was my fault for not thinking of it or trying to protect it somehow. It was an obsolete model that I was in the process of replacing anyway. I only mention it not to point fingers but so other people think about their outdoor electronics for their projects. Bottom line: will hire again."

"It went great. Windows looked like brand new and stayed that way much longer than expected. Our entire house was pressure washed, but Matthew did not like how it looked while drying so he stayed multiple hours longer that he needed to make it right. I would definitely recommend and/or hire again."

"We've hired Sauser for multiple projects to clean up the back yard, side of house, front yard, and put in some hedges. It can sometimes take a long time for them to fit you into the schedule, but when they do, it's worth the wait. Mr. Ruiz's team works fast and produces quality work. He takes concerns seriously, and doesn't mind adding extras in, for a fee of course! We've gotten many compliments on how our yard looks now from people walking by in our neighborhood while I've been out watering. My only recommendation is to contact them early in the year as they get booked up pretty fast!"

"Sean from Clearview came out as scheduled and did a great job installing my lights.  I have used other installers in the past that provided a less than perfect experience.  Sean was by far the most cleanly installer I have ever had.  All the strings of lights were straight and professional grade, you even get to choose your color and pattern.  Best part was that my yard wasn't littered with those little plastic hanger clips.  He even came out promptly to fix a light that came loose in a storm.  When spring arrived, the lights were taken down in a timely manner; unlike some other installers that will leave the lights up until its convenient for them to take down, aka summer.  I also use Clearview for window cleaning, as they are awesome at this too."

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Maple Plain, MN

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
