"My wife and I needed a fence segment installed and a 10ft wide driveway gate to keep our German Shepherd contained the backyard. Northland was hands down a great company and I would recommend them for any fence job. We went with steel wrought iron and it’s absolutely beautiful. We contacted about 8-10 different companies, and Northland’s pricing and options were by far the best. They had a few different styles of fencing and gave us a price breakdown for each one. They were the first company we contacted and they even recommended two other places to see if they would offer a better price, although they did not and we went with Northland regardless. The first step was to remove our old fence, which they did in no time at all, and then they drove the posts into the ground. They came back just over 1 week later to install the fence and gate and they did a wonderful job. If you have Nick and Alejandro installing it they’ll do excellent work. Whenever we need another fencing project complete we will contact Northland. Overall they had great customer service and we couldn’t be happier with the results."

"Rob and his crew built us an awesome fence. It looks even better than I had hoped for. There were a couple of tricky spots to make sure the neighbors could keep existing chain-link fence line, and they figured it out... I'm mostly just impressed with how good the fence looks. I went with the post caps to dress it up a little, and Rob suggested I look into the Nuvo Iron gate inserts, which I bought on Amazon and his guys installed at no extra charge. It all looks great. I definitely feel good about going with this company for my fence project."

"We got five quotes in April and Midwest was the second cheapest. Our neighbor used them for a similar material fence and it looked nice. I was swayed to Midwest for the financing options. The good thing was that the installer crews were always very prompt, and arrived first thing in the morning- almost at 8 a.m. on the dot. We’re disappointed in the level of communication from Midwest. For a company that boasts of installing thousands of fences per year, they sure don’t have their system down. From between the salesperson to the scheduler to the finishing staff to billing, it seems none of them talk to one another. We told our salesperson our initial concerns. We questioned where our property line was. We were assured they would correctly locate it. There was a huge lack of communication in that. At completion, the fence looks fine. The crews worked quickly. We’re a bit of perfectionists and we were disappointed that they flew through some of the steps- building the gates with screws not spaced the same distances, stripping out screw heads, leaving glue residue, etc. Especially for the gates that cost a thousand bucks each and are built on site. The thing I am most disappointed in is that NO one has called me following completion to see how we are satisfied with it. This just seems like strange business practice because every other home improvement we have contracted out has them meeting with us to go over the final product and final out the job- siding, concrete, roof, etc. The only person who called me was a rude business person wanting the final payment. I said there are things we needed fixed and had called the finishing crew, which illicited a huffing sigh. They need to work on communication between staff and start to finish job progress tracking. It’s sad when the cable company has a better tracking record of who and when you talked to them about specific issues."

"Great! Jeff was great with quoting and giving great ideas for the uniqueness of the property. He did the quote on the site so before he left I knew the price. There was absolutely no pressure to sign up at the time of the quote. Once we decided to go with them for the fencing project, I met with Jeff once more and finalized the project and price. I was given an estimate of 4-5 weeks until installation. I received an email from the installion crew right away with what to expect and what they needed me to do. About two weeks later they actually contacted me and scheduled installation ahead of schedule. The crew that installed the fence was very respectful. Enjoyed my experience with this company from start to finish."

"We love our fence-- it's beautiful!  Yet, while the final outcome was"A" worthy, a few bumps along the way unfortunately weigh down my overall rating. <br /> When I reached out to Artistic Fence through Angie's List, I got a timely response and an estimate soon followed.  I liked the samples of their work, the price seemed fair and reviews on Angie's List were strong so we signed the work agreement and made our deposit without delay.   <br /> The bumps were essentially the result of some inconsistencies in the way of customer service.  Namely, we were not impressed with the crew that did the tear-out of the old fence and placed the posts because of their general lack of professionalism and regard for our property.  I feel pretty strongly that every crew working residential jobs needs at least one person who has the soft skills needed to, at the very least, introduce themselves to the homeowner and say what they are there to do.  If there was such a person in this crew, he did not introduce himself, which caused some unease.  Plus, they did not space two of the posts correctly so one needed to be dug up and moved by the builder.  I believe with more proactive and detailed communication from a project manager, my expectations could have been managed more effectively.  For instance, I was expecting the crew in the morning of the first day so I stayed home from work to get them set-up with power and water.  After a couple hours I inquired about their whereabouts.  Turned out they didn't arrive until the afternoon and then worked for only an hour and while I understand the weather's heat was likely disruptive, I felt out of the loop.  Or, perhaps that was part of the project plan all along, but based on my expectations they were late, left early and threw the job off schedule. Things turned around after I expressed my frustration over having a torn-up, exposed yard and  being told the job would not be finished by the agreed date or two days after that when we were slatted to host an event in our backyard or two days after that.  <br /> They responded with great service recovery?moving things around to send out their ?best builder? (perhaps owner too) to get things very close to finished allowing us to get our yard cleaned up in time for our party.  He was great?friendly, understanding, and detail-focused.   He was very apologetic about our experience with the earlier crews.  He communicated how he was going to approach the build.  When he finished, he gave his recommendations on care, including staining.  He let me grab some scrap pieces to test stains.  He even offered to haul away some old concrete footings from a separate project, which was very helpful.  And, like I said at the beginning, the finished product is really lovely and has helped us enjoy our backyard so much more. <br /> Based on the final product, I think it?s a shame this project didn?t earn an A because the fence is truly excellent.  The process in total was good, just falling short of great.  I would certainly recommend Artistic Fence and I would use them again in the future. <br /> <br />"

"Our railing project was challenging: a stylish design needed to fit our historic 1930 bungalow with curved front steps. Several contractors said "can't be done". Krech didn't flinch - they have the special tooling and skills necessary to fabricate and install it exactly as we had envisioned, at a reasonable price. Plus, they are wonderfully nice people to work with. We couldn't be happier!"

"The two biggest impressions, after having 5 total estimates, was that the owner of All Around plus my project manager came out to work on the initial consultation.  All the paperwork was laid out and they had the best coverage guarantee as there may be an occasion to sell in the future, so the coverage applies to next owner.  The owner and the project manager, very knowledgable and approached sales with education and utmost respect for all my questions as a person new to roofing old houses and St Paul building codes. What answers they didn't know, they helped connect and talk to other specialists within the company or ones they use as consultants/subcontractors. The project had to be delayed because of rain, which happens.  I was kept apprised. All permits were done correctly. All options on the roof were given as choices (venting, type, etc), but I had the final say. All communication (phone/email) was very prompt and thorough. <br /> The actual foreman of the work team was knowledgable and the team worked hard.  I will be honest and say (it was the end of Oct and was chilly) I reached out and made beverages (hot especially) available all day on my front porch in appreciation and respect for their hard work. The crew did an amazing job of cleaning up as well. <br /> The one thing I will request in the future (as we will definitely consider them), is the project manager stopping by in person on site and/or the empowerment of the foreman to discuss the progress, was decking to be replaced, etc., on the actual work day. To credit, my project manager was available by phone and answered questions about the progress of the the project. The project manager did come out after work was done a day later, re-swept the area for nails, etc., checked over the to do list.  There were some tweaks that were revealed (such as new chimney flashing revealed the need for tucking) and we ran into a weird St Paul code, but was guided through and advised well.  I did not make final payment until everything was done to both project manager's and my satisfaction. All costs were upfront, not hidden, and all discussed ahead rather than sticking me with it and surprising me...as nothing can be certain until the materials pulled out.  The only add-on was the chimney tuck, which again had to do with the old flashing and new flashing being different shapes.   <br /> As always, one must have patience when working on house projects and expect a few things to come up.  All was in good hands with All Around. <br />"

"We had Landmark build us a cedar picket fence around our new home. Dan Caruso (the owner and our point of contact) was was very prompt and professional. Our estimate was prepared once we met with Dan and he understood what we were looking for in a fence. <br /> The install was was done in a timely manner and the crew that did the work was neat, pleasant and respectful. <br /> The only hiccup we had was a miscommunication between myself and the foreman on the job. This required them to take down some pickets and reinstall them closer to the ground. I could tell he was a bit angry at me, but he fixed the issue without further comment or delay. <br /> I would certainly hire them again. The Caruso's run a great family business and deliver a wonderful product. <br /> <br />"
