"Called the office and spoke with Duane. He was very professional and honest, and informed us that installing an attic fan when we already have a roof ridge vent is not recommended. We actually already had the electricians here to do their part but ended up cancelling the whole project and will instead be cleaning the soffits. Based off of this interaction, if/when we are in need of some roof work, I will definitely be calling this company."

"First Rate, First Class Contractor! Quality, Integrity and Superior Attention to Detail Had a few roof shingles blow off our roof, saw Surf & Turf Roofing signs and trucks around town so I called and we setup appointment next day. After taking a look at the roof, they gave us an estimate right there on the spot, no waiting or having to chase them down to get it and no dire warning of estimate expiring in 1-3 day because of pricing increases. While they were there, they also recommended other repairs that had also been recommended to us by our home inspector when we bought the house. It was reassuring to know that Surf & Turf's recommendations were not gimmicks to add costs to job. They were honest, they built our trust and we hired them to do all the work. From estimate to completion of work took a week and a half. There was no discussion about supply chain issues or being booked out for months. The crew was one of the nicest and most respectful crews to us and our property. We couldn't find fault; the work was beautiful, the staff attentive and above board and our roof has never looked better. We are so impressed with their work and professionalism that we are hiring them to do more roofing/siding work. "

"Honest, Excellent Service at a Fair Price. I called 5 roofing companies for a quote on repairing roof leak and Al was one of two who returned my call. We scheduled a time to meet and he came out on time and inspected the roof and explained what area needed to be fixed. He inspected the whole roof and determined only part of the roof needed to be replaced. He explained the work he would perform. the materials he would use, how long it would take and when he could start. He gave me a fair price. The other roofing company that came out recommended replacing a much larger area at twice the price. They showed up on time, cleaned up and no more leaks!"

"These folks did a great job removing the old shingles and replacing with architectural grade shingles. They completed the job in one day. It looks great! However, after they left, later I found a wicked roll of nail gun nails that they missed in the cleanup. I'm really glad nobody stepped on them, because that would have caused an emergency room visit for sure. If not for that, I would have given them five stars."

"An excellent repair job on a leaking roof - Danny came out and saw the damage, assessed the situation WITH me and not just to me. Said what he'd do, told me he'd schedule with me asap (which he did). Communication was easy, both phone calling and texting. His men came, were respectful, cleaned up after themselves, and were gone before I knew it. Less than a day's work to do what I considered a decent amount of work to be done. Danny came later that afternoon, we exchanged our payments, he showed me the photos of his work, and that was that. I feel confident about his worksmanship he accomplished today."

"ATV General Contractors completed every phase of remodeling in our house. My wife and I bought a fixer upper (the house was built in 1918) and hired ATV to completely rehab the place. They gutted the whole house, ran all new electric and plumbing, insulated the house and then sheet rocked everything. Once this phase was done, they installed all of the new trim, installed radiant heat floors in the bathrooms and kitchens (WE LOVE THIS FEATURE), and completed the tile floors. They then installed our cabinets and granite countertop, the cabinets are hung perfectly, nice and sturdy and look beautiful. The last thing to be done on the interior of the house was refinish our hardwood floors (they look amazing) and paint (which also looks amazing). This is just the interior work they provided, now lets talk about the exterior.
Our house has three porches that needed to be completely redone. There is a very large front porch with 6 large pillars, a back porch, and a back upper balcony off of the main hallway. ATV removed all of the old wood, fixed any deck support beams that needed work, and then redecked everything with Cedar # 1 boards, which look beautiful. For the front porch we needed to do some work on the load bearing pillars, they jacked the roof up slightly by each pillar so they could replace all of the wood underneath, and build the new support platforms. They then sanded and refinished each pillar so they look brand new.
ATV finished our home quickly and the quality of work is out of this world. We get compliments every time someone new comes over and sees all of the woodwork and trim work that is in our house. They did not rush the job or cut any corners. They worked with me every step of the way to make sure I was okay with everything that was getting done. I plan on using them again in the next few years to put on our addition that we are planning for."

"I hired Cole to remove solar panels for me in oreer to replace my roof. After fighting with the solar company for weeks I finally took matters into my own hands and found Cole. Cole got the job done in one day, he was quick and efficient. The panels worked great after he had to do some adjusting from the previous installer. Id recommend Cole to anyone looking to have solar panels removed or reinstalled. He did a great job"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Marmora, NJ

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
