"We had the foundation repaired around our house and the basement repaired due to our drainage problems. This was 17 years ago and we have had no problems since that time. Also, Everdry furnishes a sump pump to us free of charge and we always have an extra sump pump in case the electric power goes off. I would suggest to every new home owner who builds a new house to have Everdry do the waterproofing of the foundation and drainage outside the house. They are wonderful!"

"This company was very prompt, efficient, and effective. We did not want to spend $20 grand on waterproofing the entire foundation snd they came up with a budget-friendly alternative. Very happy with them."

"Quick and professional removal and installation! Also replaced cold water galvanized pipe running from main to water heater with pex. Will consider using M&S in the future to replace remaining galvanized pipes in the future."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Rob was the only person/company to respond/follow up to my phone call.  He came by the next day and gave me an estimate for the job of hanging and finishing drywall on the ceiling and walls of my basement. He gave me the options of either having his crew come in and hang the drywall or just himself helping me hang it.   I opted for the latter which would allow me to learn a little and save money.  I was traveling so I had Rob start the job several weeks later.  When I ordered the drywall, the local supplier quoted an additional hefty fee to get the drywall from my driveway to my basement.  Rob suggested that if I didn't mind some hard work, we could move the drywall to the basement together for a much lower price.  Again, I took him up on his suggestion.  When the drywall was delivered, I called Rob and he was over in 15 minutes.  We moved the drywall to the basement in an hour (hard work for me, mind you), and I saved $120!  As mentioned, I was doing some traveling at the time, so Rob worked with my schedule.  The two of us hung the drywall in 10 hours, and Rob taped/mudded/sanded the drywall over another 6 trips/days, again working with my schedule where needed.  He also helped me return unused drywall to the supplier, using his van, where I got a refund (which I applied to finishing supplies).  Eventually, I let Rob have a key to the house and he worked some while I was absent.  Rob is a real work horse.  While being courteous to me and my family, he would arrive and set to work, "not coming up for air" until he accomplished what he intended.  He obviously came prepared as he did not once break to get some material/tool he needed or had forgotten.  Rob used a sander with a built in vacuum, so the dust level was minimized.   My walls are finished so that I need but run a cloth over them and paint.  He gave me some helpful suggestions as to painting which I will try.  His original quote was one day to hang the drywall and four days to finish it, coming to a total of 40 hours.  I paid Rob at the end of each week, and eventually it totaled to EXACTLY 40 hours.  I was very satisfied with the job and would recommend Rob Seth to other people looking for work to be done."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Mendon, MI

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
