I do my own intermittent detailed cleaning and don't use a weekly or biweekly cleaning service, as I've never been satisfied with traditional maid service. Incidentally, JMA Painting & Drywall finished a large project for me last month - porch repairs (wood replacement), exterior painting and some interior drywall repair and painting. Between the two sides of JMA's business in March, my house would be ready for a large gathering. But we'll just enjoy our clean and organized house on our own for now, until it's safe to socialize again in large numbers. "I am a realtor here in northern Virginia. My seller client had already moved out of the area and I became the point of contact for getting her home ready for market. Sparkle Cleaning and Beauty was the company she had used for her regular household cleanings so she suggested I contact them to set up a deep/departure cleaning prior to her home going on the market. I texted the company on a Thursday evening at almost 9pm not expecting a response until the following business day. HOWEVER, Yengy, the owner of the company got back to me that same evening to introduce himself and to explain his company's services. An appointment was set up to meet my time constraints and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Yengy met both his friendly and hardworking crew and me at the house at exactly the scheduled time. I highlighted for him what I needed done and Yengy made sure everything was completed. "The technician, David, arrived on time, and the company gave me the heads-up beforehand that I had requested. He went right to work, looking at the clog in my dryer (it had stopped several days earlier and the fault code told me there was a blockage), and then setting up his ladder to do the cleaning from the vent outside. He explained the process so I knew what he would be doing, and didn't seem to mind that I watched him closely. First thing we saw was a sparrow fly out of the vent, so as he noted, we could expect a bird nest. He then proceeded to pull out about a foot of nest material (thankfully only one egg and no babies). After he got out all of the big stuff, he ran a brush all the way to the dryer. Running the dryer then pushed out all of the lint. He bagged up as much as he could and took it away, but a lot of it disintegrated on touch. He assured me it would disappear in the next rain, and I'm sure it will. I then asked him about installing a bird guard, and he told me how much it would be ($85) and showed it to me. I liked the design since it does not appear it will collect lint, like one I had in a previous house, and it was metal so it should last. I had him install it. He then wrote up the invoice and I happily paid ($125 for cleaning, $85 for vent). No hidden or extra charges, no attempts to upsell. He told me that they usually recommend cleaning every two years, but given our small household size, three should probably be fine. I will be in touch with SixPenny in spring 2022."
