"I first met Rick last winter when he carved time out of his packed plowing schedule to clear the icy mess of a driveway at our new home. He did a great job, and since then we've had Augustus Landscaping do Spring and Autumn cleanup, so meticulous and affordable at the same time. And then, there's the hardscaping. Rick and crew have replaced fieldstone retaining walls and a long, curved walkway with beautiful Cambridge material. The time and detail put into these projects was exceptional and the cost reasonable. "Anton and his crew are the greatest! We truly enjoyed working with them, Anton is extremely responsive, extremely dedicated, and most importantly, a true artist/artisan. We asked him to use only reclaimed wood and the most environmentally sustainable materials. He researched the best environmentally sound ways to insulate our house (using stone wool and alternatives to Tyvek, which we did not want to use because it's from DuPont) and he made numerous trips farther upstate from our Mid-Hudson house to locate the perfect reclaimed wood at old barns that were being torn down and resold as reclaimed wood. He gut renovated our really skanky old house into a magnificent jewel of post and beam construction to the point that peoples' jaws drop when they walk in."

He explained every step of the way what was needed for our retaining wall, and how a retaining wall functions; grading, drainage, equipment needed, etc. The gentleman in his crew worked tirelessly. He went above and beyond to work with us, especially since in digging they hit shale, which was a complete headache for them, and meant the job would take longer. Yes, it did mean that the job would cost more because you can't build a wall on shale, but Rob had thoroughly discussed with us ahead of time that you never know what you are going to find when you dig so we were definitely OK with having to deal with that. He also did what he could to make it work on both ends, and we are eternally grateful to him for that!"
