"I pay an annual fee and a professional Weedex technician comes regularly to inspect the lawn and treat as needed. The lawn is treated whether I am at home or not, and a detailed report of what was applied and the present condition of the lawn is emailed to me. Our lawn looks better than anytime since we moved here 24 years ago. One recent report is that they had been "ineffective in controlling the Dallisgrass" and made recommendations. But from my perspective, the chemical that they are using is weakening the root structure of the patches of Dallisgrass, making them far easier to pull out of the ground after a rain. Usually by this time of year, my backyard looks like a forest of Dallisgrass. Not this year. I'm done messing with which product to use and when and how much. I'm leaving it to WeedEx. I pay an on-going annual fee, but I do not remember how much exactly. The number $350 comes to mind, but you can check on their website. For me, it's worth every penny."

"Big Foot Lawn Services is a fantastic, affordable lawn care service. They came out and looked at my yard, gave me a reasonable quote, and took care of the job! They also looked at some of my house plants, recommended different additions to the solid, and made a bag of homemade soil for my potted plants! They are professional and straightforward. I’d recommend them to anyone who needs their lawn serviced or if they need any kind of specialty soils for their plants!"

"I really like them. I have a very nice contract with them. It is like $700 a year which I pay in advance. They spray inside the home and spray outside around the house. They also spray our garage and our shop that we have in the back of the house. Before I even searched on Angie’s List, I hired them to come and do like a one-time treatment and they did a very, very good job. It was a lady who came over at that time and she was very helpful. She helped me a lot and took care of all my concerns. She got rid of the chiggers; at that time my kids and I were bitten by them and after that they were gone. I lost their address and when I looked in Angie’s List I found them again. I have a yearly contract with them now. They send different technicians every time and they are all very nice but some of them take care of everything and some of them do not. Overall, it is a very good service. Their quality is pretty good. They are very punctual. Their responsiveness is good. I would continue to use them in the future."

"I was satisfied.  They did a good job.  It was a messed up yard and they really did a good job.  I was satisfied and the price was very good.  He was doing my neighbor's yard and I checked to see if he was on Angie's List, and he was.  So I decided to hire him.  He came over that day to talk to me.  He was really good.  They were cutting the neighbor's yard and I was doing my own yard, but I couldn't do it.  I asked if they could do the grass, they had other jobs to do but they fit me in that day.  The owner came back in the afternoon and talked to me and left an estimate for me.  I was impressed."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Mineral Wells, TX

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
