"Extremely well, matched old bricks with new very well. Reused old bricks as much as possible. Cleaned up well. Curt and Chris communicated well and explained how some things are done that I hadn't realized."

"Empire Stone Masonry started and finished the job exactly when they said they would! They were super friendly and enjoyable to have around for a week. Their work was flawless, I couldn't have been more impressed with their tuck pointing work on our building which was built in the late 1800s. Highly recommend!!"

"They worked on my chimney with tuck pointing, and a new concrete canopy with a new rain cap. They also replaced a few broken and cracked bricks. The job looks great. They had scaffolding and their own generator, because my outside outlet was only 15 amps. I would highly recommend them!!"

Customers say: True professional

"Jason, the owner of the company sent his son to the job. In conversation with him, I found out he had been working for his father for 7 years. I must say that their previous job ran a little over due to the rain for the past few days, but they did arrive before noon as promised. Jason taught his son well. The bricks on the house were over 30 years old so were no longer available! The son stated he had some that he thought matched pretty close, and if he cut them in half, it would be about 1/4 inch differant. Clever idea and when he laid 3 of them out, if you weren't familar with the project, one would never know!! I was very impressed with not only the expertise he showed in laying the brick, but the workmanship and cleanup were all outstanding. It was a great conversation and listening to him and finding out we had a few things in common. MORA! If I need any more brick work or tuck pointint i would certainly give them a call again"

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Minneapolis, MN

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
