"TJ Appliance came out within a day, got to the bottom of my problem, kept in contact, and made recommendations. Though I ultimately decided to replace my appliance considering the problems it had, Troy's promptness, knowledge, and ability to explain to me what the problem was helped me to quickly find out what I needed to do."

"I worked with Mike, Paxton, and Ryan as they replaced flooring in my basement Livingroom, bedroom, bathroom, 2 small hallways, and stairs with landing. They were amazing to work with - they provided ongoing updates, were sensitive to our schizoid cats, and answered questions professionally. They explained what was needed, listened to any concerns I would have, and helped us to consider next steps in addressing possible mold issues in our basement. I cannot recommend them enough or everyone at Fix it all. It was great seeing Curtis again as I considered baseboards with great recommendations. They are 80% done with the project at this time and I couldn't be more excited to see this dream come true! Thank you to Fix it all and the best group of workers I have been blessed with. Warmly, Andi"

"I have been a long term Connole & Sommerville customer, having had them do the plumbing and HVAC on several new homes for me. I had always been satisfied with their work and their price was in line with other companies. Things have changed with new management and employees. In January 2023, I was out of town and had them install a bath sink faucet (I supplied) and tighten down a kitchen faucet in my rental. They billed me $316.90, but I protested the hourly rate ($95 vs. the $75 they told me) and the three hours labor. They reduced the bill to $256.90 but maintained it took them three hours to do (my tenants told me two hours). If I were in town, it would have been an easy hour job for me. I will not be a customer of them again. Harold"

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Minot, ND

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
