"The Deck and Patio Company built us a wonderful outdoor space. Our project was precipitated by the rotting out of a critical beam in our upstairs master bedroom balcony. Martin Sullivent worked with us to not only replace the failed balcony, but to redesign it to incorporate an adjacent pergola, complete with fireplace, stone planters, sidewalk, and pony wall. In working with him over the ensuing months, we became impressed by his attention to detail and his concern for quality of craftsmanship. Our patio faces a slope down to a lake shore, and Martin's team poured a structural foundation for our patio to guarantee against erosion and sinking. The beams of the pergola are solid and sturdy, lending not only an attractive appearance, but also strength and durability. His team carefully designed placement of our fireplace in the corner of our patio to enhance and complement the view of the lake. During the design phase of the project, Martin encountered constraints resulting from the existing structure. For example, the rise between our existing patio and the patio door jamb was insufficient to allow for pavers. Martin worked with us to present alternatives that would meet our objectives, such as leaving the surface as brushed concrete, staining the concrete, or doing a stamped concrete overlay; we opted for the latter. In each case, Martin was careful to share with us the pros and cons of the various solutions. Every time we have a party, it's a BLAST! (we do it often) and we love having people over because they all enjoy it as much as we do. "Jose and his crew arrived on time, each man knew his job and got to it immediately. The whole crew worked seamlessly together and got the job finished. The project turned out great, we were very pleased with the outcome. We hired them to do another project for us and are looking forward to the same great work. UPDATE 01/08/19: This is the second job Jose and his crew have done for us. They arrived promptly and got right to work on covering existing concrete at the back door patio and the front entry patio with pavers. The work looks great! Added a lot of curb appeal to our home. "Great. We had a consultation and described our vision for what we wanted (more color, something to make the back yard look less empty). We also had a few specific little problems like straightening our juniper that got knocked askew during Harvey. Alvin provided us with a detailed estimate. It did not have pictures but for me it was descriptive enough so that pictures were not needed. When we approved the estimate, Universal came in soon thereafter and completed the work in two days (including throwing in the little extras like our juniper situation). They also had someone check and adjust our sprinklers to make sure the new plants will get the water they need. The landscaping looks so good. We previously had a few rocks around our front flower beds; they brought in a lot more to line and raise the beds (which makes them look so much nicer), and added mulch as well as new plants. They also used our existing plants that still had life to them (they got rid of the dying ones per our request) and transplanted some of them to other areas in the yard. They installed a new flower bed behind the pool. Per our request, they planted some plants along the fence line to dress it up a little without obstructing the view behind our fence. They chose dwarf crepe myrtles, which I am excited about as a crepe myrtle fan. I can't stop wandering around my yard admiring everything. Of course, some of the plants (like the new dwarf crepe myrtles) are new and small, and will grow out over time, so I know it will look even better in the future. We are very happy, 100% satisfied."

"MZ Masonry was not the first or only company that I consulted about this project. My mailbox had leaked for five years. I was so tired of wet mail every time it rained. The original installer of the mailbox tried a number of times to address my wet mail, and was stumped because they said they had installed this mailbox many times and it had never leaked for any other clients. Manual (of MZ Masonry) came over and quickly identified that the problem was a leak in the masonry above the mailbox. He repaired the masonry and applied a silicon seal. That was nearly two weeks ago and I waited this long to post this review because I wanted to go through several rain cycles to make sure that my mail was - in fact - not getting wet. I am happy to say that in the past couple weeks, although there has been plenty of rain, I have had NO wet mail. I am so relieved. Manual also repaired the plate on my front gate that was mounted on my brick wall and was falling off. I canâ t tell you how many of my friends had told me â you need to get your gate fixed.â Well, thanks to Manuel, it is now (finally) fixed. Manuel was responsive, came when he said he would come, and charged a fair price. I will call him again for other work that he could do for me."
