"We actually hired JLS to do multiple projects: expand our laundry room (removal of a load bearing wall was required), repair a cracked joist in the attic space over our garage, and install a vented range hood to replace our old recirculating hood. From the first estimate, to the completion, we could not be more pleased. The owner is very conscientious and wants to ensure that each step of the job is completed to the highest standards. Communication was outstanding and there were zero costly "surprises". He and the gentleman that worked for him were both very friendly. They went above and beyond to keep the construction mess to a minimum and performed a thorough clean-up at the end of every workday. For all of the work that we had done, we felt that the price was quite fair and we will not hesitate to call JLS for future projects that are outside of our comfort zone or time constraints!"

"Let me start with Iâ m a paraplegic from a car wreck in 2001. Since that time Iâ ve hired Mr Ronald multiple projects to make my house more wheelchair accessible. Heâ s built ramps for me, widened doors, poor concrete ramps, barn doors, Sheetrock work, custom cabinets, and completely remodeled my bathroom. All done with the utmost attention to detail and craftsmanship. Heâ s never been late, busted my budget, or been anything less than the utmost professional. I would recommend him to anyone that needs work done. Well versed and knowledgeable."

Born and bred Oklahoman from Mustang, Oklahoma. Graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Entrepreneurship. Learned how to be a jack of all trades with a hunger to never stop learning from my father. Took that work ethic and unbreakable task focus mindset through my early adulthood into starting my own company fabricating custom furniture from raw wood and metal. I’ve held the outlook that I am never above any job or task asked of me. This has led me to become well versed in an extensive amount of applications with accurate execution. My personal desire for perfection will result in exceeded expectations. I retain an extensive amount of tools that guarantee the job gets completed as well as a reliable F-250 to assist along the way.

"I've used Hays for 2 projects so far. He did a good job repairing some soffits on the first job so I asked if he did tile. A flooring store and a tile guy had already measured the area and came up with 620 to 650 square feet. Bob said it was 520 square feet. His honesty saved me from buying way too much tile that I would not have been able to return. He did a great job on the oversized tile which is difficult to lay. I'll be using him again for future jobs!!!"

"Their service is outstanding! Really wish there were more contractors like them. The refinished floors looked like new! I didn't think they would turn out quite that great. Price is absolutely reasonable. Showed up when they said they would and completed the work on time as agreed. No babysitting required. Highly recommend them!!"

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Moore, OK

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
