"It was easy to communicate with Manny, and his emergency repair to my leaky happened so quickly, even for the end of November. He sent pictures of the roof hours after I first contacted CL Exteriors, I was quite surprised! I am recommending his business for repair of the entire roof and also the roof replacement of the other 2 buildings in our condo association. He promptly checked them out and sent estimates for the association to review. I am very impressed with CL Exteriors."

"I joined Angie's List out of frustration in trying to find a roofer who would show up and do the job right. I have an older house with a slate roof in Vermont. Slate is wonderful stuff and looks nice -- it was "the durable roof of choice" before standing seam metal roofs were invented (I still think it looks better than metal) -- but every year 10-20 slates crack and break and are pulled off by the snow and ice dams that slide off the roof. Angie's List has paid off for me already.  <br />   Ray Gourdeau and his two assistants showed up as promised and worked four days straight, including the weekend of 3-4 December to take advantage of good weather. They worked until after dark on the last day (Sunday 12/4); it's cold and dangerous work on a steep slate roof in winter, and I never found any of them skylarking or goofing off. They set up ladders and scaffolding a few days beforehand. They used my hose and tap for their power wash machine (which was OK, though I wish I'd been asked ahead of time). One hint: if  (a) you have skylights, and (b) if you're having your roof power washed to remove mildew and growth, be sure to have skylights tightly closed before they do the power wash. A small amount of water leaked through, though no damage was done. All in all, I am very satisfied with this company, and Mr. Gourdeau himself was on scene most of the time to fabricate the copper and supervise. He obviously takes pride in his work, and he returns phone calls -- something I find increasingly rare these days. I have called other roofers who never returned my phone calls (Hello? Do you want my business or not???) and I talked twice with one local man who said (twice) he'd come by. That person also never showed up, nor did he call me back. (I will never understand that mode of "doing business.") Gourdeau is old school, clearly wants to do the job, and do it right. I will definitely call him in the future for the inevitable inspection and repair that a slate roof always seems to require. Mr. Gourdeau told me that copper is very expensive these days -- they used a large roll of it -- but he kept to his original estimate. <br /> I checked "N/A" in the price category because I have no accurate idea of what the price should be, but for three men working on a roof over four days, plus materials, $8,700. is probably about right. <br /> In summary: they showed up and did the work they said they'd do, and the price was not "adjusted upward." Totally satisfied. <br />"

"The job went very well. He took the old roof off and and saved the old edging which saved me money. He miscalculated the amount of material he needed and offered to cut the difference in half. The pieces were just slightly shorter than the roof, so he came up with a creative way to fix it. The roof came out great and went through this tough winter. I would use his services again in a heart beat. And the best, he cleaned up every spec of construction material that was laying on the ground. <br />"

"Michael's crew installed an entire asphalt and standing seam roof on our house in 2020. Recently, (six years later) I noticed a few shingles at the roof edge coming off. I called his office and THAT SAME DAY he was here and fixed things up beautifully! No charge either. I couldn't believe I could get someone there so fast. These guys are great and stand by their work. I'd hire them again in a heart beat."

FAQs for roof cleaning service projects in Morrisville, VT

To find a reputable ice dam removal company, check verified customer reviews and ensure they have the proper credentials. Look at online testimonials and consult reputable agencies like the Better Business Bureau to validate their service record. Contact the company to ask about their experience, hourly rates, and safety practices. This helps ensure you're hiring a pro with proven expertise and a solid track record to protect your home from ice dam damage.

Ice dams can cause extensive damage that jeopardizes your entire roof structure. They can lead to issues like attic condensation, broken roof sheathing, persistent leaks, visible wall water stains, mold in your attic insulation, sagging drywall, rotting attic framing, and roof collapse. This damage compromises your home's integrity and requires immediate professional attention to ensure proper repair and safety.

Most insurance policies don’t include coverage for the removal of ice dams since it's considered preventive maintenance. However, damage caused by ice dams—such as roof collapse, extensive water damage, or structural failures—may be covered by your policy. It's a good idea to contact your insurance provider to understand your coverage.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams. Use a proper roof rake from the ground or a safe ladder—never climb onto an icy roof. Also, consider addressing any inadequate attic insulation that may cause heat leakage. Promptly clearing snow minimizes risks and helps maintain a safe, durable roof.
