The communication was EXCELLENT (I can't emphasize this enough!) and we were kept up to date throughout the entire process--we were able to text which was so convenient. While he was here, he explained everything clearly, showed me the issue, and how he would be able to fix it. I also really appreciated that when he arrived and saw I had a mask on, he immediately offered to put a mask on without me having to ask. For people who live with someone who is immunocompromised or feel more comfortable masking, you can feel safe and comfortable while Tito is working in your home. We have been having tree root problems with partial clogging of the yard drains for several years Our neighbor's trees were causing a pain in the drains. Previous hired rooter companies weren't able to remove all the roots. About 80 feet of pipe is under a concrete walkway. I was told told by the previous rooter companies that I might have to break out the concrete (big bucks!) and replace the pipe in several years.

I decided to call The Drain Co after reading the positive reviews on Angie's List. Ramon arrived on time and was polite and was very knowledgeable --- 20+ years experience! He explained how the procedure was to be done correctly. He used the proper size cutter (the previous companies used a small coil type rooter after giving up using a cutter, which only partially rooted through the root mass). He knew the exact cable feeding rate to resistance met to get a complete root cut, and when to pull the cable and repeat the process. He pulled out a 7 foot string of roots which at first I thought was a baby python. After clearing the roots he applied a root killer which relieved my anxiety about replacing the pipe which was under concrete. Ramon did a thorough clean up afterwards. Will definitely use The Drain Co again and highly recommend them!

"Using MasterServ is a perfect example of the pros and cons of using a big company. They were able to offer a lower price (by several hundred dollars) than other estimates I received because they specialize in volume (and not necessarily quality). The estimator who came was extremely pleasant and professional, however, internal communication in this company is a disaster. Therefore, small details like getting a new shower valve installed and installign new shower heads were initially overlooked by the installers because this wasn't communicated between the estimator and the crew. I never met the so-called project manager, who should have been there the first day to make sure everyone was on the same page about what was to be done. It was explained to me by the estimator that it would be a two-day job (true). The first day, the crew showed up and spent about two hours cutting holes in the walls and prepping the house. The second day they were there from 7 AM until 830 at night, working like crazy to get it done that day -- very stressful. When I saw that they hadn't installed the new shower valve, I got some grief from the crew and the so-called project manager over the phone, and this was eventually rectified with me paying an extra $200 to have the crew come back for an hour or so to install. When the job was complete they had disconnected and capped some old galvanized pipes, but with the new water pressure they blew out a couple weeks later (because they make their money by moving fast, quality and client communication suffer!). The guy they sent to do the drywall patching was a total incompetent. He showed up a couple days after the plumbing work was done started work and left mid-day saying he'd be back the next day to finish, though he never did return. I called the so-called project manager who was surprised to hear that the job wasn't done and it took a few more days for them to schedule a new guy to come out who had to re-do everything because the first guy was incompetent. In the final analysis, this company was the cheapest alternative, but there were a lot of headaches -- stay on top of them and make sure they do the work correctly!"
