"John Sierra at Alpha sales consultants is my roofing expert hero! I had four contractors come out from Angie to give me a quote on the soffit repair. Out of the four contractors John was the only one willing to get up on my roof and access the situation. Long story short, The insurance adjuster came out and met with John and myself and determined that my roof did fit the criteria for a complete new roof install. three days later, I have a brand new roof. I’ll give John and his crew a 5stars plus. Cannot thank you enough John."

"It was great working with Brian, Tom, and their crew. They replaced the roof on our patio as well as installed new gutters. They were upfront, easy to work with, and did exactly what we discussed. All of it was at a fair price as well. Highly recommend them if you're looking for genuine people that also know what they are doing!"

"Several years ago I used T&J Exteriors to replace 3 or 4 windows on a recently purchased home, so I contacted them again when I decided to replace the rest. My first experience was great; the owner met with me to determine what I needed and to answer questions. After the installation, he called to make sure I was happy with the product and service. My second experience was different; I had to leave a few messages before I heard back from the owner. He told me that he subcontracted out all his window jobs, saying someone would be out to measure. The man who did the measuring and the man who actually installed my windows were professional and competent, and I love the quality the windows. After the job was completed I did not contacted by the anyone to see if I was satisfied, but about a week later I got a call asking for payment. Maybe I am just old school but I believe spending more than $5,000 with a company entitles me to at least a "thank you for your business"."

"From the start they were on time. Talked with their estimator for about a hour about what and how I wanted. Being a ex-roofer myself I was pleased to see someone interested in what I had to say. Everything talked about was sent back to me by email before job was started. Very professional. Job started on time. Workers both men and women did a great job. Price was very good, roof was completed and site cleaned in two days. Very good experience. If needed in future I will be calling them back. Want to see a great job, see my roof."

"As with life, we hope to get what we pay for. In this case, we opted to pay a little more (but not the highest quoted price) and got both an excellent result as a very well-executed project: literally from start to finish. We could not be more pleased with our new deck and with Ben Hill Renovations. For this project, I was what I believe a well informed buyer. I was contemplating building the deck myself with some assistance from hired labor for specific aspects of the project. I had already prepared detailed plans, secured my building permit from the city, and poured significant concrete footers designed to support also a dry patio (beneath the new deck) and a planned free-standing fireplace adjacent to the new deck. I'd read all the engineering requirements of a deck 14' off the ground and had purchased all the do-it-yourself books and watched many You Tube videos until coming to the right conclusion: this was a job for professionals. We wanted a very high-quality, maintenance-free deck so I investigated six different contractors and visited active building sites of three. After doing so, I felt confident I'd selected the right contractor, deciding to pay more than most other quotes but not more than one. I was confident of Ben Hill's model: provide a relatively substantial deposit, get into their building schedule having a 14-18 week lead time, and then have the reasonable expectation the project would be delivered quickly and professionally. This was exactly our experience. For those who may new to hiring a contractor, you should know a reputable contractor is likely not going agree to start "right-away." A reputable contractor is going to have a significant backlog of business, in part, because they have repeat customers. And there's a reason for having repeat customers. My wife and I've heard recently from friends about the more typical experience: other contractors will agree to start right away and then drag the project out because they've accepted more jobs than they can reasonably deliver professionally. I want to thank Ben Hill Renovations, specifically, Shawn, Ishmael, Alfredo, Tonya, and Chris for their commitment to quality and great customer outcomes. This is what I strive for in my own business and I'm able to recognize it when I experience it myself. We have a fantastic new deck at a fair price. We intend to work with Ben Hill again to replace an existing deck off another level of our home. It was the best of experiences."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Mount-Berry, GA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
