"Jeremy and crew are wonderful to work with - our entire family loved having them around. Our highest exterior wall is near 30’ from the ground, but Seattle Paint and Design’s experience and quality were more than up to the challenge. Beautiful masking work on all protected surfaces kept any spray blow back out. Our house is painted with the finest quality paint, no bubbles, cracks, or peeling after 1 year. Their thoroughness with second coats where needed and touch ups provided us with a perfect finish, and our house still looks amazing!"

"They were initially booked out a couple months, but were worth the wait. Great crew, finished in a timely manner, cleaned up everyday befo ex they left. Even after the install there were some wind storms and they came back to check and make, sure all was good."

"I am super impressed with the quality of work and professionalism from start to finish. Everything was explained in full detail, and all of our options were explained. They were able to match our new roof to our old roof perfectly- and even when the appraiser came to our house he specifically commented on the quality of workmanship on our roof and how impressed he was, and pointed out he different features that polar bear added to our roof that made it such an exceptional job. Oh, we also had them install skylights, and actually doubled our skylight order less than 24 hours before they were set to install, and this was no problem for them at all. Everyone we had contact with from the office to the workers were nothing short of professional and polite, and I certainly have recommended their services to everyone I know who is needing a new roof / skylights or windows."

"They showed up on the agreed date and were very prompt. Guys were very professional. Only real concern is the quote was slightly higher than others but I was don’t go with cheapest bid if their reputation is good. I would use them again for other gutter or roof maintenance and/or repair."

"<p>Very professional! The workers were on time and the foreman spoke with us every day to inform us how things were going, what was done and what was to be done that day. They cleaned up at the end of each day.</p> <p>The skylight above the kitchen and the stove vent were not installed correctly and were leaking through the roof causing the roof damage. A! matched the roofing materials surprisingly well and did a high quality job and cleaned up nicely after themselves. They bid aprox. 25% higher, to cover unknowns. But, only charge for the work they do. </p> <p>All-in-all I'd highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Excellent Small Buisiness Roofing Company. I will hire them again to do my entire house this summer. The job I hired them to do is to strip 1/2 of my garage roof, repair corner of roof which was damaged, install a new composit roofing using shingles resistant to wind velocity to 130 mph, and install 26 feet of gutters. A. Company is in high demand. Get your roofing request in early. B. Workmanship. Lead and working supervisor/owner very professional. Takes pride in his and his crew's workmanship. Very professional work ethic. Stays focussed on project and gets the job done. Identifies errors prior roofer's made and corrects those errors when reroofing.. C. Uses high quality roofing materials with quality warranties, also does metal roofing. D. Their bid is very competitive. Make sure you include them your list of roofing contractors. Work with the Customer Service Representative (co/owner). It's a small company and they need a few days to work in an estimate. You will not regret it. E. Makes and installs tailored gutters and downspouts on site."

"Casey was able to fit us in with only about a week notice, as this was not a big job, and something he could take care of completely in the morning at our house. We really appreciate that he made an effort to come quickly as our old mailbox post was rotting away and about to fall. He took care of everything to our complete satisfaction. <br /> Casey was very prompt and showed up on time, ready to start. He already purchased bags of concrete mix to use and did a very professional job of centering, leveling, and installing our new mailbox post. He even knew about building code and made it the correct height. Casey showed me everything before the job, explained exactly what he was thinking, and made sure everything was okay with me before he started. After he started, he was done in about two or maybe approaching three hours with everything - the mailbox post and the tree trimmings. To set the post correctly it had to sit overnight and he came back the next morning (early) to re-attach the mailbox to the post. He made it perfect and we are happy. He also shared a lot of knowledge about the outside of our house and answered all our questions completely! Thanks. <br />"

"He was very thorough and gave me pointers on a remodel as well that I asked questions about once I bought the house. He answered all of my questions and explained each issue that he found. I would definitely hire again."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Mount Vernon, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
