"After a severe rainfall my wife and I discovered water was
forcing its way through the basement slab and in between the slab and cove
joints in our basement. Knowing that we wanted to eventually finish the
basement, I contacted five different contractors to assess which had the best
solution to keep the area dry.
In the end we chose Stay Dry based off the company's
proposed solution, experience, and positive review base on Angie's List. While Stay
Dry's solution was similar to what other contractor's quoted, it was superior
in that they used triple-walled perforated pipe--not corrugated--that was
installed next to the foundation footer as it should be. Don't let a
waterproofing company--in my particular case, Ayer's Basement Systems--convince
you that a drainage tile can be installed on top of the foundation footer and
function properly. Reading guidelines the Department of Energy and Oak Ridge
National Laboratory established for proper foundation water management, and a
little common sense, confirm this.
All of this is to say that Stay Dry proposed and installed a
system that is proven to work, and they did so with excellent workmanship. Jim
and his crew were courteous and professional in their conduct throughout the
installation, and I would heartily recommend them--and Stay Dry--to anyone needing
basement work. They literally went above and beyond the scope of what they were
paid to do. They installed a dry well for us, and then they took extra time to
move the left-over dirt to areas that needed improved grading to keep water away
from the house. Nowhere was this in the contract, but they did it free without
question.
I couldn't be happier with the quality of the finished
product, but there is one small thing that could have been done better from the
sales side. We decided to opt for the battery backup sump pump with the Pump
Spy monitoring service, but the Stay Dry sales rep did not disclose the fact that
the Pump Spy service itself included just a 30 day trial, after which there is
a $4.99 monthly fee. I was not made aware of this until I went to activate the
service online when the system was installed. $4.99 is not bad for being able
to regularly monitor the sump's activity and any issues that could arise, but I
do wish that the Stay Dry rep had informed me ahead of time. Regardless, I
highly recommend that anyone who is having basement water issues give Stay Dry
a call and rest assured that their work is worth the investment.

"Machtemes DBR completed a long punch list of handyman services on my home including soffit construction and gutter repair, heat coil installation for our roof line to address a persistent ice dam issue, porch roof assessment and repair, exterior door installation, finish work including baseboards and trim around windows and doors, and attic insulation. Jon the head contractor showed extensive and wide ra ging knowledge and expertise. His detail work was exceptional. He was able to perform tasks we requested but also was able to troubleshoot problems we didn't know how to solve, suggesting several options for us to consider. "Rick and his partner were punctual, friendly and very professional. Our family room has a lot of trim and they took the time to prime, paint and caulk all the trim including the sliding french doors, windows, and bookcase. After that, they sprayed painted the walls. For the most part it was adequate coverage, but there are a few spots that I noticed that could have had an additional coat. I think next time (due to the type of paint purchased) I would ask for there to be a little more drying time between coats. These areas are minor so overall I think that they did  a really good job."

"I had tried installing a new French Patio Door and could not get it to close. I called Swans based on the reviews here. He scheduled an appointment and came down and quickly determined the issue. He took the time to explain why I was having trouble and how he had two options to correct it. He had the door installed within about a couple hours and did not even charge me the full estimated cost of 250. He offered to do the rest of the install work (foam insulation, reattach brick mould, etc) but I enjoy that stuff. I will definitely keep him in mind when I have another project I need help on or someone to do for me
