"These guys did an awesome job with our 1930 Limestone walk-way and cobble stone walk-way. Plans to bring them back for the patio in the spring to redo the 1930 brick patio."

"<p>  </p> <p>    I visited showroom to select the stone for our project. Two slabs of stone were selected and they answered all of my questions related to care and maintenance of the stone. Explained process used to prepare stone for installation.  I received a call from Stonesmiths telling me  that one of the granite stones had a crack. They located another granite stone of same color and  sent me a picture of the stone by e-mail.  I couldn't tell any difference between the new stone an the one that had the crack.  I really appreciate the fact that Stonesmiths  walked the extra mile to make sure that I received the product that wasn't  defective.</p> <p>    The men arrived on time and completed their work. They were very courteous  and answered all of my questions. I asked if there was some type of sealer that should be placed on granite. They had already done this and  said that  once a year I should reseal the granite to protect stone. Sealer and be purchased at any home improvement store. I asked about care or stone, and they stated use soap and water to clean stone.  Home improvement stores sell special cleaning products to clean stone. Finally they said DON'T use any bleach cleaning products on stone.<br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"Excellent, went above and beyond expected. My back yard was a mess: uneven, poorly built fence, lots of debris, water pooling, cracked uneven sidewalk. Patio is beautiful, very helpful in choosing pavers. But he went above the expected and used to extra dirt to even the back yard, lifted the uneven sidewalk, adjusted the fence and even put in a drain to prevent erosion to complete the job. Very professional. Would recommend."

"It went well - Ken built the scaffolding one afternoon, and completed the work the next day, I think. He seemed very knowledgeable and wanting to do things correctly - even if it was more work. THis is what we wanted. We didn't want a fix quick that might hold up for a year or two, we wanted a job well done that would last 30 years, and that's what we got. <br />"

"I selected the stone. The employee carried it inside for me. I spoke with Kelly (SP?) about the project. They said they would sandblast the plaque onto the stone for me. They also donated the cost of the stone. I only paid for the sandblasting labor work. The entire process took one week. They were wonderful to work with!!!"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in New Castle, IN

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
