"Thank you, Mike Apple and Moss Roofing; I love my new roof! I highly recommend Mike and Moss Roofing for your roofing and siding projects. Mike and the company were reliable, honest, and great to work with. The crew was excellent, and Mike was very helpful in explaining the process. My landscape was covered, and the cleanup was exceptional. In fact, Mike returned, helped the crew clean up, and was there until 8:30 pm to ensure everything was spotless. I have worked with other roofing companies, and Moss was by far the best."

"Before the job was sold the sales team headed by Mike Hawkins were very professional, courteous but right after the signed contact job was delayed due to their internal department mixup. I was not communicated of any delay and had to call numerous people to get the response. During the whole process they worked with my insurance company and finished the work on time and the roof looked great. Right after job was completed I noticed my porch gutter leaking at the joint. It was a new leak which I thought would be the result of shingles being thrown while install. After sending video of the leak to the sales, install and customer service I didn’t get any response then finally I complained to their General Manger Grant and he came to inspect the leaking gutter and said the age of the gutter may be the cause of the leak but he will get it caulked. It has been more than a week, email and text message to their General Manager Grant has still not fixed the leaking gutter. Roof replacement was a good job but if there is any problem later on with their work I will not depend on their warranty commitment. I will not recommend them to others for their after sales service commitment."

"The quality of the work excellent. Working with Rick and his crew was also excellent. We have lots of landscaping around our home and Rick crew did not damage one plant. I request a roof replacement on my home, gazebo and shed so they all matched. Rick's crew completed the work in one day. This included removal of the roof on all three structures. This installation included dip edge on all three structures and gutter aprons on house. My gazebo roof is done with decking boards to give it a finished look from inside and Rick's crew meet my requirement that no nails show through. I want to thank Rick and his crew for workmanship and attention to details. True professionals. I also had new gutters installed on my house and gazebo, again workmanship was excellent. You will not be disappointed if you hire Rick and his crew."

"Jason is the BEST! I have had 2 different contractors over the last 2 years for a persistent roof leak impacting an area in the kitchen ceiling. One of those contractors came 3 times and did some caulking in the area. This lasted 1 year and as you might guess, the heavy 2 days of rain during the 2nd week in April left me with the same leaks in the same areas. Sheward Contractors was one of the referrals that I received, but I was skeptical as to whether he would be able to truly fix my issue after 2 years of dealing with this leak. Immediately upon meeting Jason, I began to feel more confident in a resolution. He listened patiently while I recounted the history of my issues, he evaluated the roof area and came back with pictures and recommendations. The pictures showed the caulking had cracked and also he felt a hole deep behind the shingles in that area where water could seep in with heavy rains and pooling of water. He also showed me pictures of a clogged dryer venting system right beside the problem area that may or may not have contributed to the issue. None of the other contractors even informed me that my dryer vented to the roof. I was surprised about this information but grateful for Jason and his thoroughness in explaining it all to me. Jason responded to my emergency situation and gave priority to fixing my roof by removing shingles, installing new flashing, replacing shingles and also replacing the dryer vent with a better dryer venting system after cleaning out around the area opening. Jason, thank you so much for your excellent service to your customers, your expertise in your chosen profession, your kindness and your overall responsiveness to what are usually stressful circumstances for your customers. I also know by your ethical communications and manner that you plan to stand by your solution, such that even if something did not work as planned, I know that I can count on you to assist with a resolution. Thank you for standing out from the masses."

"From start to finish, I felt like we were in good hands. You can get so many estimates nowadays from roofing companies, but you can never full trust them. I am happy with our results and would recommend them if you are needing any type of roofing work done."

"Jared Peters gave me an estimate on replacing some very old windows (the house was built in 1956 and these were probably the original windows we were replacing) and replacing the garage roof.  He did a great job of quoting us quality materials while being very conscious of our budget.  He didn't try to oversell, but also wanted to make sure we got a good quality product.  Brad and Jake did our windows and did a fantastic job.  Brad suggested replacing the picture window in the living room (which was three panes of glass side by side) with a large window with two smaller side windows that can be opened to let in fresh air.  We were very happy with the result; I can't say enough about the quality of their work.  They also cleaned up the work area completely each day.  The garage roof was completed in less than a day, and once again, we got excellent workmanship and quality materials at a fair price.  I would definitely recommend John Peters Roofing, and would not hesitate to hire them again. <br>"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Indianapolis, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
