Tree Top came out (the tree guy I guess) and said it was due to the drought and hot weather from the previous summer, it had been causing the same issue on other maple trees. They sealed the exposed area and wrapped the tree, and also applied a systemic drench to make help keep the tree safe from insects. Overall pleased with the experience. <br />"
