"Wonderful! Tom from Jilek was very personable and answered all of my questions. Once under contract, they fit me into their busy schedule quicker than I expected and arrived at 7 AM the appointed day with a large crew to remove and replace the roof. Excellent work, excellent clean up, and they were done before 1:30 PM the same day. Superb professionals who do high quality work."

"Sandor and Exact have been doing my annual slate repairs (all minor) for three years.  Other companies were not interested in small jobs.  Sandor and his crew always do the work, personally.  Nothing has been subcontracted.  The quotes have always been accurate.  My home is 106 years old and my roof keeps the house wonderfully dry.  I highly recommend Exact Roofing. <br />"

"After the 3rd patch on my existing roof, it was time to replace the roof. Got an estimate from local roofer who did the repair, and from FB. FB was significantly lower for what has a strip and replace on a simple 2 plane roof. The estimator worked with me as a truckdriver with limited home time to schedule his estimate with my home time. He was pleasant and professional. On day scheduled for the work to be done, the workers, and equipment arrived as promised. They started about 8am and was done by noon. Cleanup was well done, and the dumpster for debris was gone by that afternoon."

"If I could give this company 10 stars I would. I hired Airko to fix issues caused by another company that had re-sided my home in 2020 and would not respond to my pleas for assistance in addressing siding that was not attached, siding sagging, etc. Mark Gilbert worked with me, evaluated the entire house, found all the problems from the prior company, and promised to fix everything for me. And they did. They were professional, timely, punctual, and went above and beyond. The gentleman, Mark, who actual did the repairs, was very detail oriented, and did perfect work. I can't say enough good things about Airko and the Marks. I am grateful to them for getting me out of the mess I was left by the installing company."

"EA Home Repair did a great job. The owner, Adil, helped us every step of the way, he was conscientious of our time table, & he review all of our options to ensure that we stayed within our budget too! Our attic went from being a completely unfinished space to a luggurious third floor retreat with gorgeous vaulted ceilings & beautiful hardwood floors. We can't thank Adil enough for all of his help & hard work, & we've already recommended our friends to use him for their future home repair projects. <br />"

"The estimate/contract stated that work would be completed within 6 weeks. On the day of signing contract the contractor said that because job was fairly small they might be able to perform the work within days. That night they called to say they could be there the next morning between 8 am and 11 am. I said OK. The work crew, 5 guys, came at 10 am. They nicely covered the gardens flanking the garage, carefully trimmed a small tree overhanging one roof, and got right to work. The job was finished by 3 pm after a final review by the boss. After the crew left, except for the new roof, you couldn't really tell that anyone had been there! I could find no debris on the ground near the garage, nothing out of place. The final cost was exactly as quoted. Farley Roofing did a speedy and excellent job. I recommend them highly. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Oberlin, OH

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
