"This company charged an elderly couple that lived in a different state $44,000 to replace a flat roof in Two Rivers. After inspecting the roof for a few minutes it was clear that none of the decking the customer paid for to have replaced was actually replaced. It was still spongy and rotten under the new membrane. Unfortunately they lived in a different state and were unable to see the finished product before they paid their invoice."

"Feldco installed 16 defective replacement windows at my home. They agreed to replace them after coming out and determining they were defective. They replaced them with more low quality windows, and did poor quality work. The caulk job is atrocious. The damage the did to the wood surrounding the windows is horrible and does not appear to be fixable with the windows installed. One of the windows is a large picture window which has been replaced twice both times with a damaged product. All of the windows are inconsistent in quality and all have small defects. From afar they look fine, just don’t closely inspect them. They added wood inside of the old openings where it was not necessary to cover for windows being made to small. So now a previously finished opening has bare wood inside of the trim. The company is horrible at calling back when they say they will or responding to actual issues. They have dragged my $12946 install on for one 4 months now always claiming they will “make it right” but taking very little insufficient action to do so. They talk very nicely, and will sell you a good story, but the follow through isn’t there. They sold their windows to me as high end windows at a mid lev price. These are not high end windows. The second installation crew told me how the first installation team did not even install their weather stripping internally properly. My experience with Feldco has been full of empty promises, lies, a defective product (x15 - I am okay with one of the 16 windows), low quality work, and a lack of action. They have made promise after promise to fix things, but do not do it. I have spent many hours on the phone attempting to get this remedied to no end. The last person to come look at the windows was going to replace the picture window, send someone to work on 14 other windows, and try to see how the company could compensate me for the multiple issues and time this has cost me. That was almost 3 months ago and nothing has happened to move forward with this. I did have to cancel one appointment, which I have been made to feel bad about even though they have done a no show where someone forgot to come and cancelled on me in the passed. This is the worst experience I have had buying any product or hiring any service ever. The quality of work would have gotten me fired from any construction job I have ever had, and I’ve had multiple. The amount of stress and aggravation this has caused is ridiculous. The employees are nice and seem to genuinely get things done for you but the product is horrible and whether or not they want to help the fact is they don’t. They don’t return calls and everything is someone else’s fault. They first blamed the manufacturer of their windows then they blamed the installers then back to manufacturing then new installers Felco has never accepted responsibility for their product or work instead they blame it on the contractors they hire basically stating they are just middle men and pointing their fingers. I would never recommend Feldco to even my enemy, they are good sales men and friendly, but it feels like a big con job and they are definitely not honest. Four months of constant calls and waiting and the windows, which were paid for months ago, are still not close to satisfactory. Again this has been the most stressful purchasing experience I have even been through, and the quality is horrible."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"Typically I don’t write reviews. However, the process of our project was very poorly managed by ARC despite the reassurance that we would have a project manager. We never saw a project manager through the whole process. We had to manage through many issues and rework, from the wrong color siding being put on, to water coming in my kitchen from the roof not being wrapped correctly and nails sticking out of the roof. From the edging not being finished and siding that covered our cable to siding that was cut in corners for some reason to poor calking and beyond. We had to manage and call or email the issues at every step of the way because no one was here managing the project. The final straw was when they were here to finally fix the issues they were nailing siding into a wall and broke the tile in our bathroom. I asked for ½ of the $5K that I had paid to have my shower tiled since the tile was discontinued and it would be roughly $8K to have it redone today. I thought I was being fair, but this is what I got back: “Again, I apologize. It is not an excuse, but with the transition of some key employees things weren't managed correctly. I would be upset if I was in your position. I would have a hard time recommending ARC also. I did talk with management and we will discount $1,000 for the shower with the understanding there won't be a negative review left online. I don't expect a 5 star review online since you didn't' have a 5 star experience. Does that sound fair?” This is not a company that stands behind their work or their word. I would not recommend them as in a previous email I was told: “I am having a hard time to justify a $2,500 discount to my management for a few tiles that may have broken from siding installation.” They MAY have broken? I’m lying? They also asked me to put in an “accent” color where it broke, where there is no other accent tiles and would look horrible. Thank you, but I loved my shower and now it looks horrible and will need to redo the entire shower. But you can’t buy a good review from me as the $1K is not worth it to me (and yes I was told that they have insurance, so they should have it covered). I have attached pictures that show only a portion of the crappy work that we had to have them redo. Shame on you ARC, I went with you despite you being more expensive than another company because of what you promised. Stand behind your word and your work. Very unhappy customer. Wanitta Charnon"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Oconto Falls, WI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
