"Mid-Atlantic Roofing & Gutters provided outstanding service from start to finish. The sales engineer (John) provided a detailed overview of the work to be performed to replace my roof and gutters. While the installation was being performed there were weather delays, and I was kept updated on when the work was going to be resumed. The work team was friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the tasks at hand and always notified me when they arrived for work and when they were getting ready to depart. Mid-Atlantic is without a doubt one of the best contractors I have dealt with for repairs to my home. I would recommend them to anyone who requires quality, professionalism, and for expert service."

"Fichtner Services did an outstanding job installing a standing seam metal roof to a front portico that has both curved metal panels and hipped sections. Due to the shape and some intricate details, other companies said they could only do it using copper material, but Fichtner Services offered that they could do it in either steel, aluminum, or copper. We chose 24ga coated steel material, and Fichtner prepared template and ordered custom barrel section panels. When the installation crew first arrived, the project manager and crew leader explained how the work would proceed, answered questions clearly, and easily adjusted to a slight change requested to the front edge form of the roof. The crew demonstrated they were very talented in cutting and folding the metal sections and installing the system with 1” standing seams. The workmanship was excellent and we were very happy with the result. All communication with Fichtner Services was very professional, and responses to questions very prompt. We would definitely hire them again."

The estimate process was straightforward and transparent, with Mike answer all my questions clearly. Their prices were reasonable and competitive. Overall, I found working with Glen Burnie Roofing, especially Mike, to be a smooth and easy process for a pretty typical roof replacement."

"The service went well. HF Contracting, Inc. worked hard into the night to complete my roof installation. Mr. Flores was easy to work with. While my job was small in comparison to many others, it was treated with the same respect and quality as if it were a much bigger job."

"A roofer arrived at my place around 1pm (same day as my phone call). He examined the drywall and examined the roof. He quickly determined that what I was seeing was actually yellowed tape where pieces of drywall had been joined together showing through the less than adequate paint job. I'm sure he was right. The stain was a perfectly straight line and my original home renovator did a sloppy job. I was embarrassed that I had called him out, but he was very polite about it. Horizon Roofing is awesome, and I would recommend them to anyone!"

"Had a leak, replaced roof at their suggestion. Service was prompt. <br /> <br /> Misgiving is that I contacted him today regarding a leak in the same spot. Was told they're no longer in the area and that the roof is not under warranty. I find this puzzling because I see recent reviews here for the provider so I would have thought they'd at least come by and taken a look. <br />"

"Rebuild was excellent to deal with. With the recent wind storm, all of the roofers I contacted were scheduled out. Rebuild kept me informed, set a date and time for the repairs and showed up on time. The repairs were completed in a timely manner and look great. Thanks Rebuild."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Odenton, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
