"On this occasion, Payless responded to an emergency leak under my sink that required a good bit of repair and two trips due to the part being out of stock with Moen. This was probably my sixth time using Payless for either plumbing or electrical services, in addition to general carpentry repairs. They are always prompt, always reasonable, and the work always turns out well. It is extremely convenient that Mr. Winstead, the owner, is licensed in both plumbing and electrical because you can get everything fixed at once. Payless has, over the years, replumbed all my bathrooms w/new faucets and pipes underneath, worked on my HVAC humidifier, installed a new TV with new cable and electrical connections, replaced a bathtub faucet, installed a new shower, installed a bunch of lights in my attic, fixed a telephone line, and upgraded all my outside hose bibs. When my kitchen light fell, they came and put in a new one the next day. When our garage door spring broke two years ago, he sent a friend to fix it within 2 hours. Mr. Winstead actively looks for ways to keep the costs down, and has sometimes been able to fix something I thought needed to be repaired, saving me money at his own expense. I think this is the sort of business worth cultivating a longterm relationship with, because once they know you and have worked with you, they will put you on their client list and be responsive. <br />"

"We had a cold, windy night and our pipes froze up. One burst, and when I called several local plumbers, everyone was busy. TP Howard has manpower advantage. From looking at their site, it appears they have 30+ plumbers on hand. I called and explained our situation and the lady who answered the phone kindly explained she could not guarantee anyone would be out that day, which was a bummer since we had to shut the water off to prevent further damage. Within two hours, the plumbers were at our house. Within fifteen minutes of their arrival, the broken pipe was repaired and our water was back on. They were quick, professional, and courteous. I would definitely hire them again."

"everything went great. They said that a saddle valve is a bad idea for the ice maker and insisted on a proper tie in to the cold water with a real shut off valve. After doing some research, I fould this to truly be the best to avoid possible leaks. A little more money but cheaper than fixing future rot from a small leak that I may not ever see behind the fridge. These guys are not the cheapest but they can not be beat in the work that they do. I can not say enuf about them. If you need a plumber they are your guys."

"Thank you, Angie's List! Our experience with Crew Plumbing was excellent from start to finish. When we called, to schedule an appointment for an estimate, Erin answered the phone. She was very professional and personable. The gentlemen arrived on time for the estimate. Two days later they came back to do the job. It was a pleasure to have Kevin and Anthony working in our home. They were very professional. They both had great personalities and impeccable customer service skills. They answered questions, explained procedures and gave us options. It is a great feeling to know we now have a plumbing company available to assist us with our future plumbing needs. In addition to all of this we were given a 5% discount because we found them on Angie's list!"

"Ken and his assistant always do a great job, and are so pleasant to work with. Our faucet leaked for the second time in a few months, and Ken advised replacing it with a more reliable brand. His assistant installed the new faucet and unstuck our frozen garbage disposal. Unfortunately, when the first sink full of water was drained through the disposal, it blew out the deteriorated baskets and flooded the cabinet under the sink. Ken then came over immediately to remove the unit (our choice, as we didn't want to replace) and replumb the drains under the sink."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Old Fort, NC

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
