Customers say: Super punctual

"Extremely disappointing experience with Schlepper. We hired them for a move that included an antique armoire valued at $15,000, with very clear instructions agreed upon in advance with their representative (J). Those instructions were not followed, and the armoire was damaged as a result. Key issues: We were never informed or offered any insurance option. It was not mentioned by the representative (J) and not proposed on the day of the move. The movers could not communicate in English, making it impossible to give instructions or resolve issues. The movers left our bathrooms in a disgusting, unsanitary condition. The agreed plan was to disassemble the armoire at pickup and reassemble it at delivery. Instead, they attempted to move it improperly and only dismantled it at delivery when it didn?t fit ? causing damage. Schlepper refused to reimburse us or send a professional restorer, and instead offered $120 for damage to a $15,000 antique. This is unprofessional, misleading."

"I cannot say enough great things about All Service Moving—and ESPECIALLY Rico and Reyes, who were absolute lifesavers for my last-minute move. After another moving company bailed on me the day before my scheduled move, All Service swooped in and saved the day. Rico and Reyes showed up EARLY, upbeat, and ready to tackle the challenge—even with super heavy furniture that usually requires a 4-person crew. Somehow, the two of them handled everything like pros without a single scratch or ding—on the furniture or either home. What really stood out was how personable, kind, and thoughtful they were. They moved quickly and efficiently, knowing I was paying by the hour, but never once sacrificed care or quality. They were kind to my mom (who was helping me out), and so sweet to my two dogs too. If you’re planning a move, ask for Rico and Reyes by name. They went above and beyond, and I want their team to know what a fantastic job they did. They deserve every bit of recognition. 100% recommend."

"Excellent, no problems. My car was new the first year I used the service and there has never been any damage during the transports. The men picking up and delivering the car have always been pleasant and cooperative. Both Ely and Guy at United Transport has been highly responsive to my needs. I would highly recommend this company."

"All the reviews are true. LUXURY VAN LINES is ONE LARGE SCAM. I was contacted by a company called Mission Moving regarding my move from SC to WA State. I was given a bid on the move, but informed them that I had two other bids that came in lower. The salesman at Mission Moving proceeded to ask me for the other company’s DOT numbers. He would then send me their BBB link showing that these were poorly rated companies compared to Mission. After a bit, this seemed like the best option and the move was going to ring in at just around $1,700. I provided a deposit of around $500 and was told that the remaining balance would be broken up on the day of my move out of SC and the day my stuff arrived in WA State. I was informed that I would be told my moving date a week in advance so that I could plan around it. 24 hours before the move, no one had contacted me. I followed up and was given a date and time. Thursday at 9:00am it was. SOMETHING told me to contact the movers on the morning of. I reached out at 8:45 in the morning to make sure that we were still on track for 9:00 as I was getting ready to head out. I was told, only after I messaged them, that they had to stop for breakfast and would be there at 10:00 instead. Sure glad I thought to contact them or else I would have been waiting around at my storage unit. I get there at 10:00, waiting, waiting, and waiting. 10:45 rolls around so I reach out again. Took them 15 minutes to respond telling me that the truck broke down and that they weren’t sure when they’d be arriving. I drove home and waited. 11:50 I get a text stating that they were 10 minutes away. Thanks for the extremely short notice. Being the nice person I am, recognizing that it was 90 degrees that day and that they were already having a rough go, I stopped by the store for some drinks and snacks for the movers. Everything was great until the main mover asks me to come talk to him. I am then told, that AFTER providing my inventory space to Mission Moving, that I am going over the allotted space and that I will now be charged $1,000 extra dollars to move my stuff. Mind you, I am moving out of state in 24 hours so now I am stuck with no choice but to pay this money that I didn’t really have. Two of the movers were very pleasant and were the main ones doing the lifting and loading. The main guy was literally texting on his phone and taking personal phone calls the entire time. Obviously, not paying attention to anything that was going on except for the charge me more money. After they had loaded everything in to the truck I was RUSHED through paperwork to sign as they had to get on the road. I barely had time to see what I was signing. I saw all of my stuff in the truck and assumed all was good. I asked for copies and was told that the company would be sending me an email with the copies. Fast forward to the day of the delivery, which was performed by a different company. My boxes were just mangled to high heaven. Don’t bother marking things as fragile as they don’t care. It was obvious some of my boxes had been dropped and tore open as the company tried to tape them all back up like nothing happened. After all was said and done, I was told that was the last of my stuff. I asked about my queen size mattress that had not been brought in yet. I was told that they did not have this on the truck and nothing was listed on the inventory sheet. Mind you, THE ONLY inventory sheet I got was a half-page that said I only moved 7 boxes. Interesting, to pay $2,700 for 7 boxes. I was told that I could not have my stuff until I signed for what was delivered. I was told to then call the company and file a claim about my mattress. One small problem….the guy who did my original inventory, the one who rushed me through all the paperwork, DID NOT PUT IT ON MY INVENTORY. So now, I have PAID EXTRA MONEY on the day of the move to move a large item and this large item isn’t even delivered to me! I called Luxury Van Lines. They don’t even answer the phone with the company name. “Moving Company” is how they answer and in the background you just hear kids and dogs running around. The main person that answers the phones will answer on speaker phone so you can barely hear her and sounds extremely annoyed that she has to talk to you. I was told that if the mattress wasn’t on the inventory sheet that there is nothing they can do about it. I made 7 separate calls and sent multiple emails trying to get this resolved. FINALLY I was able to speak to a manager who claims that his hands are tied and there is nothing they can do. MY MATTRESS DIDN’T GROW LEGS AND WALK AWAY!!! I then ask the manger if I can speak to his boss. He informs me that his boss is the owner and that he can’t guarantee that the owner will even call me back with this issue. I comment on how much of a scam this is to which I am told in no way is it a scam. I proceed to ask how he would feel is he was charged a surprise extra $1,000 on the day of the move due to being “over the allotted space” and then to have one of the largest items, which sells for $2,000, not even arrive? I was told 3 weeks ago that I would I would receive a call from him within a week. Not surprised I never heard a peep. This company has proceeded for 2 months to make me sound like a liar. I am not sure who would pursue this for TWO MONTHS if they were lying. Would be a waste of time. So now, not only did I pay extra to move, I am also out another $2,000 from my lost mattress. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE LITERALLY THE WORST PEOPLE ON THE PLANET."

FAQs for out-of-state moving service projects in Old Greenwich, CT

How much money you need to live comfortably in Hawaii varies based on your housing preferences, transportation needs, and lifestyle. Many residents find ways to manage on moderate incomes by choosing less touristy neighborhoods and adapting to local living patterns. Creating a detailed budget that accounts for housing, transportation, groceries, and utilities provides a clearer picture of your specific requirements.

Living in Hawaii on $3,000 monthly is possible with careful budgeting and lifestyle adjustments. Success largely depends on housing costs, which vary significantly between neighborhoods and islands. Many residents find shared living arrangements or smaller accommodations in less expensive areas help manage expenses. Prioritizing necessities, limiting dining out, and embracing local recreational options that don't require significant spending can help stretch your monthly budget while still enjoying island living.

The hidden costs of moving to Hawaii often include unexpected shipping surcharges, agricultural inspection fees, and initial setup expenses. Many newcomers are surprised by delivery access fees for difficult locations, temporary accommodation needs while waiting for household goods, and higher utility deposits. Island-specific expenses like specialized pest control services and humidity-resistant storage solutions may also become necessary. Building a contingency fund of 10 to 15% above your estimated moving budget helps accommodate these unforeseen expenses.

How long it takes to ship household goods to Hawaii depends primarily on your chosen shipping method and departure location. Standard ocean freight often requires three to six weeks from mainland ports, with shared containers sometimes taking longer due to consolidation schedules. Air shipping dramatically reduces transit time to days rather than weeks, but at significantly higher cost. Many residents adopt a hybrid approach, sending essential items by air while allowing bulk possessions to follow by sea.

Whether you need special permits to move to Hawaii depends on the possessions you’re bringing. While American citizens don't need immigration documentation, certain items face strict regulation. Agricultural products, plants, and some animals require special permits or inspection certificates. Vehicle importation requires specific documentation and potential emissions testing. Large shipping containers may need delivery permits in certain residential areas. Consulting with transportation specialists familiar with Hawaii's requirements helps avoid compliance issues.

The items you’re prohibited from shipping to Hawaii include numerous plants, seeds, and fresh produce that might introduce invasive species to the islands' delicate ecosystem. Certain animals face strict prohibition, particularly snakes and other potential invasive species. Hazardous materials, firearms without proper documentation, and controlled substances cannot be shipped. Review current prohibited items lists from shipping companies and Hawaii's Department of Agriculture before packing, as regulations can change, and violations may result in significant penalties.
