"We called First Call Plumbing based on our first good experience with the provider.  I rated punctuality as B because the main office mismanaged my first appointment.  On the second appointment, I was given an estimate of $85/hour for 2 hours of work. On the day of the service, Todd arrived at 8am and started work at 8:10. Pace of work was moderate but he entertained at least one phone call during work and he arrived with only one hose for the two water heaters that needed to be drained. I provided another hose so draining could be done in parallel. Work was completed at 10:10. The bill was written for 2.5 hours of work + parts. I objected to the extra half hour charge. I was told that the additional ten minutes was rounded up to the next half hour. I pointed out that he started work at 8:10 and he took a phone call so he only worked for 2 hours. I was told "it is what it is". I said that I expected more from First Call, I was told "Do you know how difficult it is to run a business with workman's comp and travel expense? I would loose money if I charge you any less." I said I fully appreciate the tough competitive climate and that's why I wanted to support your business model and called you, but if you were going to lose money shouldn't you have reflect that in your bid and estimate? I was told that "Had I quoted you for $100/hour you would not have hired me". We will continue to consider First Call based on our excellent first experience with them, however, experiences such as the above does considerable damage to the environment of trust they work so hard to create - hence a B. <br />"

"Joe from Zierman is so wonderful! Home Depot could not install the new washing machine I bought for my mother because the old hoses from the old washing machine were frozen over (calcification). I had less than 48 hours to get a plumber to fix this, so Home Depot could install the new machine. I could not be there in person to help my mother get this fixed. "Garry called me and requested to come over to see the scope of the work. He showed up right on time for the appointment and after I showed him the broken pocket door and explaining that I wanted all the hardware to be replaced including the top track. He wanted to make sure about the quality of the top track I like him to buy, so gave him my specification that is to get an aluminium track and 3 wheel rollers, I was tired of spending money to repair every year. He called me the night before to make sure I will be home. He showed up on time to start the work. I told him here you are, I will be in my home office, when done just call me. So, took a little longer that I expected it, because of wall sheathing being plaster board, but when he called me and went to see the completed project, to my surprise, he had completed the job and just about ready to paint the access opening of the wall - which you need to open to replace the track. He charged me exactly what we verbally agreed and I was very happy that after so many years of search and work with so many handyman, I finally found a professional and honest person who respected the verbal contract and did not charge me more for the extra unexpected site issues. Garry has very good communication skills and keeps you updated with the schedules and appointments via cell phone. I will recommend him to anyone for a small or medium projects.
