"Phil designed and installed a custom entertainment center / cabinet that replaced an older cabinet in our home.   He designed the piece to accommodate an older-sized TV,  house some of our AV equipment, and painted it to exactly match our fireplace mantle. He and his apprentice were able to remove the older piece and install the new one without damaging any of our walls or floors.  This is the second time that we have used his services and are very happy with his design ingenuity and professionalism. <br />"

"Scott at Accent Woodworks and Remodeling did an exceptional job crafting the custom cabinets throughout my family home. I was so pleased with his master craftsmanship that I hired him once more for my office cabinets as well. He has talent and skill for custom work. He also carefully listens to your vision delivering work above and beyond your expectations. I am pleased to have worked with him and wish I had more projects for us to work on together. Thank you Scott!!"

"Just so there is no misunderstanding, the 9K cost I mention above was not the total cost of the bathroom remodel.... Dean's quotes are for labor and materials he provides ONLY. <br /> For 9K, they did all of the demolition, installation, clean-up and hauling away, electrical, plumbing, painting, some of the construction materials that they provided to get the job done, and they built a custom-sized solid wood vanity cabinet with a matching framed mirror. My wife and I, being extremely particular, picked out and purchased our own tub, toilet, faucets and fixtures, floor tile, paint, etc., and had those materials ready for Dean in the garage when his team arrived. If you don't want to deal with that yourself, he'll be happy to help you pick out your finishing materials, purchase them and bring them to your site, and his quotes will include the cost of those materials. <br /> The 9K also did not include the cost of our custom cultured marble vanity top with integrated sink and the cultured marble shower surround. Dean connected us with a company he is very familiar with that build and installed those for us, and we had our own contract with the marble people. However, Dean's guys and the marble guys coordinated perfectly, and the job never slowed down. <br /> All that being said, the entire cost for the bathroom remodel was less than 13K. <br /> Dean and his guys were friendly, polite, cleaned up thoroughly before leaving every day, left no mess behind, and were punctual; the one day that they were running behind due to an accident on the freeway, they called in the morning to give me a heads up. The quality of the vanity cabinet and mirror that Dean built was very good, much better than anything you could buy off the shelf from a big-box store, and was around the same cost. <br /> Would I use Dean and his guys again? I'll answer that this way....we plan on refreshing our second bathroom soon, and he is the first, and perhaps only, person we're going to call. <br /> <br />"

"I met them at a home show in Auburn. The sales rep was on time and was not pushy at all. She went over the options and showed me the materials. She left me samples of the the counter top. She gave me a written estimate and had no problem at all letting me sleep on it. I think that was the most impressive part. No hard sell. I called her a couple of days later and faxed the signed contract. We made an appointment to make the templates for the counter tops. They were on time also. The work started on time. They do something very different with the counter tops. They put an overlay over your old counter top. It is a lot less messy and a lot cheaper. Thier bid was 3000.00-4000.00 cheaper than the other companies I talked to. I have very small kitchen so I would imagine they could really save money on a large kitchen. The only problem I experienced was they day they were finishing we had a very bad storm and they had to clean up and leave. There were a couple of minor details to finish up on and it took a little more effort than I like to get them back. I never doubted they would come back and they did finish everything. I had paid them the last payment and I was afraid but they made it right and I am completely satisfied. It was just a timing issue where they only needed about 45 minutes but weren't in the area and the same time I was so it took some effort. Everyone was very nice and it was a good experience. My kitchen looks great. They can do overlays in bathrooms and I plan to ask them about fixing up my shower."

"They did a terrific job.  The cabinets look terrific and the product was almost without any chemical smell; it is very mild.  They worked hard, they were punctual and it was a very good experience. What I ask for from people who provide services is that they give me a clear written estimate, that they are responsive when you call them, that they arrive promptly, that their work is good and that they have a good work ethic.  This guy and his crew met it on all fronts.  I can’t say there was any one thing that stood out.  I hired them because they had other favorable ratings on Angie’s List. "

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Oregon House, CA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
