"Chris did an amazing job! He is professional, knowledgeable, and I trust his work. I had a leaky toilet in my bathroom which rotted out part of the subfloor. Chris replaced the affected portion of the subfloor, re-installed the flooring, and replaced the wax seal and other fittings on the toilet (to fix the leak) all in a day's work! I would most definitely recommend him and will be calling him back for other jobs."

"Started out really good. Jim met with us, listened to our needs and preferences, and put together a solid design that met our requirements and fit in our $15K budget. Construction on our project was started and finished at the agreed-upon dates. So, what didn't we like? 1) The biggest concern was the drainage basin that was created in the front yard. A 5 x 11 pit was dug and filled with landscaping stones; then sodded over so it would not be visible. The pit receives the runoff from the downspouts, sump pump, and french drain along the side of the house. A genius idea, except the sod over the pit all died early the following season. When we called Jim he said there was no reason the grass shouldn't have grown, but he would be happy to do a proposal for a hardscape (additional cost). It wasn't until this year we dug into the dead sod and discovered the reason - the sod was laid right on top of the rocks and felt and no topsoil was used. Our voicemails on Jim's office and cell numbers, inquiring about the pit were not returned. 2) Issued reported within the one-year warranty were only partially addressed. Some areas of dead sod were replaced immediately, but a few dead plants we reported were never replaced. Joint sand that eroded on the patio was also not addressed. These were after we emailed a reminder the following spring, and were promised the issues would be fixed that season. 3) Jim said with certainty that a layer of topsoil was added in the yard before the new sod was installed. We have since dug into several places in the yard while doing later projects, and found this was not the case. 4) Jim did not seem to have an appreciation for modern irrigation systems. Though we spent the extra money to extend and improve our sprinkler system to cover all the new landscaping, Jim insisted on our hand watering every plant and bush daily for the remainder of the season, which took something like 2 hours a day of moving the hose from plant to plant. (until we added splitters on the hose to water multiple plants at once, but still a lot of effort) 5) Other than telling us to water for hours, no care instructions were provided. 6) The last couple times I have left messages on Jim's office or cell number, even with just simple questions, they were not returned. So, did we get our money's worth? Mostly, in terms of the work that was done. Some corners were cut but overall our requirements were met. But was I treated the way I would treat a customer who entrusted me with 15K of work? Given the missed warranty issues and unreturned calls, definitely not."

"Paul and his team have been responsible for my trees for many years. They do excellent work including clean-up. At this point, a decision is made to take a tree, Paul says what weather conditions are necessary to do it safely and when I come home from work everything is completely taken care of."

"The experience overall was very good. I would definitely use Artman's again. Tom the saleman, very knowledgeable and very good suggestions. The workers worked very hard, were polite and were accomodating to requests that we had.

The removal of the old grass:

A sod cutter was used. This was something we wondered about, would they be taking out old top soil and us be buying it back? This was clearly not the case. They preserved as much of the existing topsoil as they could.

The downspouts:

We had the downspouts burried into the lawn so we did not have the water going over the pavers and creating a slipping hazard in the winter and also to prevent the woodchips from moving.

The pavers:

They removed the sidewalk from the driveway to the front porch. Once removed, they installed the pavers. The pavers are beautiful. The pavers' edge is secured by cement which we are pleased with. No need to worry about the edging popping up from frost.

Carlos did an excellent job . We have had many compliments and noticed a lot of people stopping and looking at them.

The sprinkler system:

They installed a sprinkler system and took into account the placement of the flowers and shrubs. (Originally was going back and forth on having it installed, but am so glad we did.)

The topsoil:

Two reasons for the extra topsoil. 1) the grade of the yard needed to be fixed 2) wanted to be sure the sod had something to grow into and not into the and quot;Canton clayand quot;.

They did a beautiful job on the pitch of the yard. Made a world of difference.

The sod:

The sod is a top quality. A Kentucky Blue Grass with a very thick backing of topsoil.

Completion:

It took approximately 1 week from the time we put down a deposit to start the work and another 1 week for the work to be completed. Total time approximately 2 weeks.

From day one it was an overall good experience. I consider my husband and I to be very picky. There are no complaints what so ever. It was helpful that one of us were home while they were working so they could address any questions right away. You could tell they took pride in their work.

My only regret was not taking a picture of before. This is my first time posting on Angie's list. If this will allow me to add a picture later I will do so."
