"Lake Point Roofing was very attentive to detail, thorough, tidy before and after the job, and professional. I am very pleased with the results of my new roofs, and would recommend their services. In addition, my neighbor, who works with roofing contractors, watched throughout the installation process, and told me that they did an excellent job."

"I had a more than wonderful experience with this company, the owner Jeff, and their rep Jerry. As a new homeowner I had a lot of questions and a lot to learn. Jerry was extremely patient and took extra time to make sure I understood the whole process. Jeff was really flexible with all my changes. Both Jerry and Jeff were responsive, respectful, and easy to work with. I recommend them for any roofing or exterior project!"

"We had CAPA install a new roof on our home. Every step of the process went exceptionally well and smoothly. Tom responded quickly and in detail to any queries. The installation crew was phenomenal. They worked very hard under extreme heat and humidity, and they finished ahead of schedule. Most amazing, they left the job site spotless and without damaged, including the shrubbery that surrounds our house. We could not have been happier with any aspect of the job."

"Spandikow was very quick to respond to my email requesting a quote for a new roof. We ended up going with him because of his responsiveness and price. We put the deposit on a credit card, and there is an additional 3% fee for that, which he explained to us. There was a bit of miscommunication regarding the start date of the work, but he was apologetic and rescheduled us very quickly. His crew was on time, professional and cleaned up everything. They tore off our old roof and did our new roof in one day, which we were really impressed by! Would definitely recommend."

"Larry was very responsive, showing up within a day of my original message. When he arrived and got on the roof, he immediately assessed the scope of the repair was greater than originally estimate made from the ground. <br /> Based on that new scope, he arranged to return with needed supplies in 2 days. He showed up in 2 days and completed the repairs as specified. <br /> His team was efficient, professional, and neat - nothing was left behind. <br />"

"Very professional from start to finish. A good variety of options for the new roof. We chose an upgrade in materials for a fair price and included an excellent warranty. The crew, as well as the project manager were very good and communicated the status of the project and any issues that came up during the removal of the old roof and installation of the new roof, including placement of vents for exhaust fans. Plywood was replaced where necessary to address problems with the 30-year old original roof. The crew did a good job cleaning up the debris that was generated during the job. We really like the look of the new roof and am sure it will protect our home for many years to come. I would not hesitate to contact Lindholm again for any future roof work for this or any home."

"Tore off roof, didn't protect tomato garden and tomato cages and tomatoes. Tar marks on siding and tore a screen. Was compensated for screen. Cleanup was not satisfactory and they sent a guy back when done to rectify. All these things I could deal with. <br /> The issue I have is that after tearoff the wood siding that was exposed was obviously rotten. Siding was also bad on dormer valleys. When roof was torn off some of the trim that was bad fell off. Not their fault, it was bad and needed replacement. My issue is that I wasn't notified or told of this. I found out the next big rain when dormers leaked into house. I realize they weren't hired to repair dormers. It's a two story home and something I couldn't initially identify from ground. I would liked to have thought someone would have brought this to my attention. The Dormer valleys are leaking, and today I have a different outfit coming to repair as well as repair siding. Pretty much everywhere siding meets roofline is being repaired. <br /> The house didnt leak before the tearoff, granted the wood was rotten and needed to be replaced.  They never told me anything about this trim that was falling off or that i needed it replaced.  There only concern was shingling the roof. As for them calling themselves Preferred Roofing and Exteriors?  I guess that's misleading because they don't do anything other than roofs.. <br /> Finally the dormers all have metal roofs.  They were in bad shape and the roofer said he didn't repair these. So I hired another crew to come and fix what should have been done in the first place. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Oswego, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
