The hardened mix will be lighter than concrete but more stable than the soil underneath. We also use the polyurethane method of correction. "From the beginning, I liked the fact that Cody was punctual. The first appointment he couldn't make, but he called to inform me, and that had value. When he did show, he took notes of what I wanted and gave some suggestions. I intentionally planned a big project, but we had to scale back once we found out that we needed to focus on another project. Anyhow, I had Cody's crew trim the front hedge and build a small retaining wall/garden area near my front porch steps. The area was small and had landscape timbers that needed to be removed. They did an excellent job of trimming the hedge. For the retaining wall, they removed the landscape timber, all but one, and it appears that they tried to use it as support for dirt. The first retaining wall attempt didn't look quite right. I looked at the finished product at night and didn't notice the extra landscape timber until the next day. I took a picture of it the day after that and brought it to Cody's attention. I didn't get a chance to tell Cody that we didn't have any landscape timber on the other side of the handrail, where there are pavers too, because he sent his guys back. I didn't anticipate this. The crew came back and asked what could be done. In full disclosure, I couldn't understand them too well, and thankfully, I grew up speaking Spanish because of my mother, and knew exactly how to communicate with them on how the retaining wall could function best without the landscape timber that was beneath the handrail. The young man, Alejandro, worked nonstop the day he first attempted to do it right, and for the do-over, he worked non stop. I noticed he hadn't eaten and I felt bad, so I gave him some snacks and water. He deserves good merit because he paid attention to how I wanted the wall/planting area to look. Maybe next time I'll make them lunch. The job ended up looking beautiful and will look great once I have flowers in it."

One yard of concrete covers a different area depending on its thickness. At four inches thick, one cubic yard of concrete covers about 81 square feet. If you're pouring at five inches thick, it covers around 65 square feet. For a six-inch thickness, expect it to cover approximately 54 square feet. The thicker your slab, the less area one yard of concrete will cover.
The shelf life of concrete depends on whether it's wet or dry. Ready-mixed concrete in its wet form lasts approximately 90 minutes to two hours after water is added, so it is essential to schedule your delivery carefully. Bags of dry concrete mix can last several months if stored properly in a cool, dry place. Moisture exposure can cause the cement to harden or lose strength over time.
An average concrete truck can hold between eight and 11 cubic yards of concrete, although some larger trucks can carry up to 15 cubic yards. However, road weight limits often restrict the amount they can carry, so most deliveries are around eight to 11 cubic yards. Knowing this helps you plan the number of truckloads you'll need for your project.
Pouring concrete doesn't take very long once the truck arrives. One cubic yard of concrete can be poured in about 10 minutes. Therefore, a full truck with 10 cubic yards of material would take approximately one hour and 40 minutes to empty. Keep in mind, though, that preparation and finishing work add time to the overall project.
