"Working with Greg was seamless from start to finish. He was professional, responsive, and gave good advice on the project. Greg and his partner Dan painted my entire finished basement. They were incredibly detail-oriented. Not only was the paint flawless, but they also did a lot of work patching holes and smoothing out the walls to ensure the best possible result. They left the place cleaner than they found it. I couldn't have asked for a better service for such a large project. I would 100% hire Sefner Painting again in the future."

"Derek and his crew really came through for us on short notice and did a fantastic job! We were in the process of remodeling our kitchen and main level when we learned that the painter we had used for years suddenly left the business. The remodeling contractor (who did not do painting) was going to install the cabinets in a week and I wanted to get the walls painted before the cabinets went in. I contacted Derek and he responded promptly. Even though he was booked he managed to come for a few hours and prime/paint before the cabinets went in. He also gave me a very fair estimate that indluded premium Benjamin Moore paint to complete the paint job in the kitchen, remainder of first level, powder room and upper level hall. Derek brought his crew in when the remodel was done and got all the prep and painting done. They were punctual and professional from start to finish. They were respectful of our house and cleaned up so well as they went along you would not have known they were there in the first place except for the great looking paint job. We were particulary concerned about an oak-stained bay window that they had to sand and paint white but the end result looks terrific. We definitely plan to use them for future painting jobs."

"I've used this company many times, not only for painting, but for handyman jobs. Jonathan and his crew have proven to be efficient, knowledgeable, and just good people! I have referred him to several neighbors, who have been very pleased with their work. Most recently, I decided to change a small room into my craft room and Jonathan was able to paint the room in a short time. I have never been disappointed with the work of Touchstone!"

Customers say: True professional

"Very professional and polite to students and staff during the three day process of painting three large hallways at the college. Two coats of a high quality paint was applied. Project started on time and was completed early. There was no mess and what little clean-up was needed was successfully done."

Customers say: Quality work

"What I liked most about this company was their approach to the project. We had five rooms repainted (Living Room, 2-story Foyer with staircase, Dining Room, Kitchen and Family Room). On our initial walk-through, they explained what needed to be repaired and patched, how the repairs would be done, as well as the type of paint and the number of coats they would recommend. They laid out a schedule (four days) which they planned on following. Repairs to the joints as well as surface preparation took roughly two days with painting taking an additional two days. Our biggest concern was once the project started it would not stop or slow down until all work was completed. Due to the size of the project we decided to move out of our house for the four days and stay with relatives. The results was that JM Painting and Remodeling did everything they said they would do plus more. They even moved all the furniture back into place after the work was completed. The quality of the work was highly professional, communication was great with pictures taken throughout the project, cleanup was very good. The project was completed within the four days and within the price quoted, even though more joint repairs were needed than originally planned. Overall we could not be more pleased with the end results. We would highly recommend JM Painting and Remodeling to anyone that may not be knowledgeable about painting and wall/ceiling repairs, wants a high quality painting job, great communications and great service all within a fair price."

"Angel did a great job on refinishing my interior wood window frames on two large corner windows. On day one he came and stripped and put down the new stain. Let this dry out over the weekend and came back on Monday to apply the water based varnish. No bad fumes and a wonderful touch up job with the paint around the wood. I am very pleased with his work and will definitely contact him in the springtime for more work."

"Carlos and his team did a great job on painting my home. I needed to have 3 rooms painted which required having my furniture moved. Carlos’ team was very careful doing that. They arrived on time, were very neat and precise in painting the rooms, put the furniture back in place and cleaned up after they were done. Carlos and his team were very accommodating. I would highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Initially, I hired them to power wash and paint a small section of a rather large deck. However, when I saw how professional they were, and how well it was turning out, I added to my scope of work and had them do two decks and repair outside structures. It took them three days to complete the work, but no shortcuts were taken. They moved furniture deck furniture and replaced it. I am beyond pleased"

"Anthony and team did a superb job. Many painters were not open to both the wood repairs and the painting project, and Anthony was confident in the solutions he recommended and willing to stand by a firm quote. They completed the prep, painting, and the complex wood repairs well. They replaced a large section of siding, which was the most economical and best solution for the areas of deteriorated siding, and left the home looking great. They replaced part of one window sill on an older window, a whole area of siding, and trim and fascia on my porch. Upon removal of the rotted fascia, they found another rotted wood behind, and were able to fix that as well at a reasonable cost. The painting prep and painting was done with attention to detail. They also made a point to leave me with extra paint in case I needed in the future. From the initial quote, to the scheduling, to the completion of the job, they were organized, on time, and delivered on their commitments. Trustworthy, expert work throughout."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Palatine, IL

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
