"I can't say enough good things about our experience with Des Moines Area Roofing. Tim was honest and helpful in assessing our roof and worked with us and our insurance. Brandon and the crew were professional and hard working, staying until dark each night, and Jan helped intercede with our insurance company. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again."

"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"Due to a recent storm my family and I were in need of a new roof, we were referred by a neighbor to go with synergy roofing group. All in all they made a horrible situation a very pleasant and quick experience. From the estimate to project installment it was a quick easy and painless experience. If I ever find myself in this same predicament there is only one name I will be choosing. Thank you guys from my family to yours."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"Poor customer experience. Could not provide approximate even dates for work - crews showed up on a couple of days notice. Returned from vacation to find all old siding removed. Request to not block primary garage space with dumpster ignored. Promise to coordinate work in two week period not honored. No walk through on expectations either before work or after work completed. Would have helped to have electrical connection plan - repeated requests to reset house breakers - don't the crews have adequate generators or is this a way to save cost? Plan for homeowner to repaint shutters failed as shutters were broken when piled on lawn. Replacement shutters finally installed three months after work done. One set missed and had to be reordered. House numbers thrown away on disassembly - left as mine to fix. Dryer vent pipe left to vent into wall - misaligned with vent. Railings were damaged on disassembly - left for me to fix. Salesman communicated he could save me some money on cladding since most windows were already clad. On my followup he found a way to clad the cladded windows. Guess he found a way to spend my money after all. Hydraulic oil spilled on new driveway from material delivery - Could have made a bigger effort to clean it. Salesman very eager to get payment the day the work was done, but unconcerned with providing proper invoice. Windows not done - didn't measure initially, measured when crews arrived and promised install a month later. A month later when I followed up, asked for desired style of hardware, A month later, when I followed up, windows not ordered because I had not provided photos of what was wanted. A month later, when I followed up, windows still not ordered because price had gone up $1800 or misquoted. Given that this was a major project, integrity would have called for honoring our contract, especially since the delay was on their side? I cancelled windows and am happy to finally be done with these guys. One more - met salesman at trade show - he was more interested in eating lunch at booth than in customer, but bragged about what a great sales guy he was to coworker in front of us. Alarms should have been going off. Also, no customer survey at the end - so there's no mechanism for Positives: Generally good workmanship and quality materials. Crews were polite, very hard working and clearly proud to work for Superior. Conclusion: In end, house looks nice - roof and siding. Windows still need to be replaced. High degree of customer disappointments that could have been avoided or anticipated."

"I had a bad computer board in my oven. they said they would not cover it because they found a roach. This is Florida we have some roaches. i do not have a bug problem. It has nothing to do with a bad computer board. This company looks for a way to deny claims. i had one other claim and they tried to deny it as well. Save yourself some agravation and stay away. They must post their own positive reviews. They took my $65.00 fee and did nothing"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Panora, IA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
