"We had Balcon Roofing install a new asphalt shingle roof on our 1950’s era home. Jesus and his crew did a great job and the price was excellent. Jesus was very friendly and responsive. After a wind storm last year, we asked Jesus to come by and take a look at a couple of shingles that had blown up which he did quickly and for no charge. We decided to do the replacement this spring and we’re glad we hired Balcon. We also had them tear off the roof of an old carport which they did for a very low cost. Everything was hauled away and the cleanup was excellent. Highly recommend."

"The work went well. They put new eave vents in the garage and shingle intake vents in the main roof with upper roof outlet vents. They moved one vent away from a valley and removed one no longer in use. The weather was VERY hot that week so they took one extra day as they could not work long days. They answered all our questions and did a good clean up job. Their trailer leaked hydrolic fluid on our driveway and they came back and cleaned it up beautifully. We recommended them to our neighbors and they used them as well. The guys were very careful not to let my dog out of the back yard while they were here."

"They installed a new roof on our house after the bad wind storm in February of 2013 blew off most of our shingles. It was a little difficult to find reviews online as they are not a well known company. However, I am glad I gave them a chance because they did a great job for a good price. I recommend them if you have roofing needs. I was happy to help a local small business rather than a larger, more expensive contractor. My only criticism is they were late the first day and I had to call to an eta. However, overall, they did a great job."

"This project was for three bathroom remodels in a 1960 single level ranch - the bathrooms hadn't had much updating.  There was extensive wallpaper in two of them which had to be removed (this is a terrible job!) followed by wall prepping.  The powder room proceeded without any problems and was done quickly. The guest bath required a few changes that were unexpected, such as moving the door frame to accommodate a 32" tub instead of the 30" originally in place, and moving the vanity light box.  Greg and Donnell were always happy  to do whatever I wanted, and offered advise and tips along the way when unexpected things came up.  <br /> The en suite bathroom was a big mess from extensive water damage that we didn't know about.  When Greg took down the tiles parts of the wall completely collapsed from water damage (and everything looked great on the outside).  The wood beams were rotten, the sub floor under the shower tray was rotten and almost completely unsupported, and once Greg removed the tile flooring we realized that all of the sub floor had water damage and needed to be replaced.  Greg was suspicious and went into the crawl space under the house to determine if additional damage was evident, and it was.  This is a 1960 ranch house that has a strange support structure with support beams further apart than is typical.  The entire bathroom was essentially unsupported with the exception of two screw jacks in place (we knew about this from the home inspection but it wasn't clear the extent of previous damage).  Greg built an entire new support structure under the bathroom & shower.   As an add on we had Greg insulate our water pipes and replace some of the fiberglass insulation under the house. <br /> <br /> I was so pleased with the work and the overall attitude of Greg and Donnell that I decided to have them install two new skylights.  Right after purchasing the house I tried to have skylights installed but was told by the contractor that he couldn't install them because the HVAC ducts were in the way (they are flexible plastic, not metal).  When I mentioned this to Greg he laughed and said of course the ducts could be moved, they're flexible and extenders can by installed if necessary (it wasn't).  Now I have two beautiful skylights thanks to Greg & Donnell! <br /> <br /> Overall I really appreciated the communications between Greg, Donnell, and me.  We typically used text messaging which I find very convenient, and they could send me photos along with questions while I was at work.  I am a bit of a control freak and Greg and Donnell were OK with my need to know what was going on, and immediately if problems arose.  I plan on having them back in the early winter to replace an ugly stone fireplace facing and do some work on my kitchen."

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

"Before I chose Best on the initial visit before their bid,  I could see they understood painting and saw things that were needed to be done to get the results i wanted on a repaint job of a house built in 1996. Work began on the day agreed and was done in four work days the same week.  One day lost due to rain in wise  decision not to risk damage to new paint by a rain shower. . First they pressure washed everything.  Then the second entire day was spent preparing the surfaces, sanding some peeling paint, filling holes and cracks with caulk and priming these areas.  Then, after the rain delay,  in two days the painting was finished in perfect weather.  Best had four workers each assigned to part of the painting, so two worked on the big spray painting which required careful masking of windows, doors, light fixtures etc. Then they painted the front door and garage side access door neatly with a different color.  A third worker specaiized in the white trim and porch railing  being extremely careful to make a neat edge where the white trim and main house color met together without overlaps . The fourh worker hand brushed  and rolled strain into an overheat louvered patio cover. He went over each cedar board many times with roller and brush until the wood would not soak up any more stain.  VERY good coveage. For the entire job four colors of paint and stain were needed and they used Home Depot's highest grade exterior  paint that got top scores in Consumer Reporta long term paint tests. Planning and supervision of the work was outstanding, and they added a second coat to a West wall hit by afternoon hot sun.  <br /> One advantage of Best Construction is they were skilled in other contraction work and I used them to repair a wind damaged storm door.   Also. they noticed I had some roof shingles on the ridge top that were damaged and repaired this for  a small added fee.   Getting this fixed before wind blew these shingles off saved a major repair job later.  VERY pleased they noticed this. <br /> They cleaned up nicely and everything was finished  on time at the agreed price.  They left me buckets of all four colors for touchup of any future needs.  They even removed and folded the tarps I had put on to protects a few shrubs near the house.  i made payment by check at the completion of the job as agreed.. <br />  Final job looks like a new house!!! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Pasco, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
