"The team at Awesome Electric was professional, timely, and responsive. They installed 4 lights for me, and checked a few plugs. They did a great job! Would definitely hire again?"

"Jon had been the one to come out last time when my light was making scary crackling noises. He returned again to do the light install/replacement. He was great about answering my questions. Jon was very kind about not laughing at me when I freaked out about a cache of dead stinkbugs, and he took the extra step of getting his shopvac to suck up all the bodies. The lamps are a little complicated, and Jon made sure I knew all the steps I would need to take to change a lightbulb. CW Electrical Services has been my go-to company since I moved into my house in 2011. They have wonderful customer service, short (or non-existent) wait times for appointments, and every technician I have met has been both top-notch with their knowledge and skill as well as personable and professional."

"The whole experience was excellent. When Warnie first came to my home to quote, he arrived on time, was professional and courteous, and he explained what the work involved and each step, including the need for a permit which he would request. Afterwards he provided a detailed written quote. I received other quotes but was most impressed with Warnie and his quote was very reasonable, so I contacted him to begin the work. Warnie came to my home with the paperwork for me to sign and I paid him a deposit, and the work was scheduled within a couple of days. The work was completed quicker than I expected which was great since the power had to be shut off. In addition to pulling the permit, Warnie scheduled the inspector, at my convenience, and the work passed inspection. I will absolutely use Goodside Electric for any future electrical work that I may need."

"Because a storm brought down a giant tree that pulled down our power line, we needed service from Duquesne Light, but we also needed the immediate help and advice of an electrician. Renaissance Electric, in the person of Eric, responded immediately to my phone message (which was before regular office hours) and stayed in text contact with advice throughout the day until things were resolved. Enormously helpful!"

"Very smooth. Showed up on time and no problems. I have used them in the past, due to reasonable prices and good service. While here, they also replaced the light/fan switch in the bedroom that controlled the fan and light (I supplied). Also, while up in the attic to run the wiring for the laundry switch, they replaced the existing old-fashioned light fixture with a new one I had already bought, with no additional charge. When here to give estimates that included these and other services, fixed a switch in our family room that was not hooked up properly to an existing outlet, no charge. They have been helpful and reasonable in all dealings."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Penn Hills, PA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
