"Bill and his team did a variety of home repair and improvement projects on my 40+ year home Fall 2024. We a couple months. These included: repairs : replacement of wood sub flooring/framing in basement ceiling/upstairs, covering outside side door concrete steps on slate, and cresting a new sidewalk to lead up to it, cleaning front of house stonework and putting protectant on it, building new short frame and drywall in order to replace old closet doors, dry walling and painting interior room and more. What impressed me most were the professionalism and expertise of Bill and his team in every way. Quotes were detailed, and multiple options were provided when needed. I was kept informed of daily schedules and progress, the contractors were skilled, meticulous and excellent with prep and cleanup. Personally, they were conscientious, diligent and trustworthy, as well as patient, friendly and kind, including with very curious twin five year olds there several afternoons a week. "

"They give me estimate on a parking spot area for off street parking in dec. 2024 gave them the application for the permits for curb cut and parking area call them many times to find out if they submitted the permits to the borough after a month, they finally called me a said they did and they were waiting on the borough for the permits. So now it is march and so i called them to find out about the permits for the work and again no answer, so I went to the borough office, and they told me they did not put the paperwork in for the permits, so they lied to me I ask them many times if the wanted the job and they said yes must be a lie as well for my calls attempts by phone to have them do the job. I never heard back from them. All I want is a answer yea or no that they would do the job. Very disappointed"

To remove concrete, professionals break it up using a sledgehammer, jackhammer, or heavy machinery, then haul it away—often using a dump truck. Recycling the concrete is a responsible option to consider. Unless you're an experienced DIYer with the right equipment, it's best to hire a concrete contractor to handle the job safely and efficiently.
Whether you need a permit to remove concrete depends on your local regulations. In many areas, you won't need a permit for residential concrete removal as long as you're not altering your home's structure. However, some localities require permits for demolition projects, especially if they're extensive. It's best to check with your local building department to be sure.
With the right equipment and an experienced professional, concrete demolition can often be completed in one day. Factors like the thickness and strength of the concrete affect the timeframe, but a qualified concrete removal contractor will work efficiently to break up the concrete and haul away the debris while ensuring surrounding structures remain safe.
To estimate your concrete removal costs, start by measuring the length and width of the concrete area to calculate the square footage. Then, multiply that number by $2 to $6 per square foot for slabs up to six inches thick. For thicker slabs, you may need to double the cost per square foot. Don't forget to check if disposal fees—around $50 to $100 per ton—are included in your contractor's quote to get a complete estimate.
