"All the technician did was give us replacement prices for the control panel and the motor--both very expensive. Surely, there are a few things that might be tried to get themachine working correctly again."

"Excellent. Mr. Singh was out the next business day and offered guidance on either obtaining a new microwave or repairing the existing appliance. He gave an estimate either way. I chose to repair the existing microwave and I really liked the model and it was installed as over the stove. Mr. Singh was knowledgeable, quick and completely professional. I would hire him and his company again in a quick minute."

"Matt and his crew were on time, professional and on time. We first called a big name company that you may see on the back of a truck. Well that company quoted us $10,000-$15,000 for less work; at that point it was ONLY the furnace. I called Matt for a second opinion. Obviously, he quoted me for half the price of the back of the truck company WITH the water heater added in. Total work done: replaced furnace and outside unit, replaced water heater, installed water pump, installed 2 EcoBee thermostats. The big name company was ONLY doing the furnace and outside unit. We will call Matt for our future needs."

"Danger: We used Apple Appliance Repair (Ashburn) twice in the last year - both for a bad Samsung ice maker. They replaced it with a 'new' one year ago (for $350) and now that one has gone bad. After doing some searching, I determined they installed a replacement brand that can be purchased of about $90 as opposed to a Samsung OEM for about $150. Do not use these guys as they are not honest - you really do not know what they are replacing. [UPDATE 6/29/2020 - Angie's List] - I am currently working with the vendor to correct the issues. [UPDATE 7/8/2020 - Angie's List] - The parts discrepancy has been successfully resolved by Apple Appliance. This appears to be a parts supplier issue."

"I am updating my review of 07/11/2023. Since that writing, Appliance Repair Leaders, LLC reached out to make the situation we were dealing with right. I appreciate their follow-through. While the promptness of the planned visits was not good, the technician did continue to try to troubleshoot the problem in the end, and the company refunded a portion of our money. I would recommend them."

"Administrative staff, salespersons, and technicians were responsive, timely, and professional. The salesperson explained the pro/cons of different size units and was responsive to follow-up questions and phone calls prior to and subsequent to the installation. The installed unit required replacement, which was a little disconcerting since it was new; however, McCarthy replaced the entire unit (not merely a component)."

"Sammy arrived right on time. In checking out the heat pump, he found a part that needed replacing. It didn't even dawn on me to think that the unit might still be under warranty, but either he looked it up or his computer told him so. Since it was, the part I needed was covered, and I only had a small service charge to replace it instead of the full part cost. He answered all my questions, was professional and friendly.

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Philomont, VA

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
