"Tim and his Team at Des Moines Area Roofing were the best to work with. Tim came to our house reviewed our insurance papers with us and made sure we were comfortable with the work they were going to perform. He took extra time and drove us by some houses he completed earlier to help us decide on a couple shingle colors. Once we made our choice they did everything they could possibly do to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. They were up front with cost and explained that nothing but the best would be acceptable. I highly rate Des Moines Are Roofing to anyone looking for a high quality roofing company."

"I am so thoroughly impressed with these guys!! I want to give an A+++ but the rating system doesn't allow for it :) Over the last few weeks, I have called three other roofing companies and got no-shows or no follow-up from all three. I contacted Synergy yesterday, made an appointment for today which they showed up to ON TIME. Not only that, the job was small enough that they were able to fix our issue immediately! They were friendly, professional and the work performed was excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."

".They showed when they said they would and cleaned everything up.  It looks good.  I think they provide their customers with thicker/stronger boards to sit on while in the shelter.  I also think the shelters should come at least 5.5 to 6 feet tall.  Most families have at least one family member or friend that is over 5 feet tall.  If we have to stay in it for a hour to several hours, we need to be able to stand up.  They were careful with the equipment and quick.  I recommend you look for any cracks in your garage around where they will be installing the shelter and driveway, so if you see any cracks once they are finished you can have them fix it.  I also recommend that you tell your neighbors that you will be having a shelter installed and ask if they can move their vehicles out of the street.  Ground Zero has a very long trailer they pull their equipment on and they need room to turn around on/in the street. <br />"

"Overall the job was done well, but not long after the roof began to leak around chimney every time it rained. <br>After many calls and no responses, Andy showed up at our house, stating that he had stopped many times and no one was home which could be beings we both work full time. <br>He said there was a spot the siliconed and should not be leaking.  And I told him it was and wanted to show him where it was leaking, but he was not interested in that. <br>So after many rains and the wall began to show major damage, and many more unanswered phone calls we decided to contact our Lawyer to seek legal action. <br>Well that at least  we finally got a response.  Our Lawyer  said he the bricks where deteriorating and flashing was not able to seal properly so water would run down chimney.  My problem was that was the first I had heard him say that, all i knew was he told me it  was siliconed and sealed and no visible leaks.  So we had a brick layer come in and inspect bricks, he said they where bad but not horrible but were only gonna get worse.   <br>We where quoted $500-$600 to remove chimney, but decided to get a second opinion from another roofer. <br>After a roofer my wife was referred to came and inspected it, and said the flashing was done properly and was directing water towards chimney, and wasn't sealed very good at base,  he could see where they siliconed it heavily. <br>So $300 dollars later, he reflashed it and pulled shingles and resealed at base of chimney. <br>That was done in January and hasn't leaked one drop since. <br>Basically I'm not here to bash Spring Valley, but we were blown off on several occasions and they were very unprofessional to us on the matter. <br>All we wanted was a sealed chimney, which we ended up having to go elsewhere to get done.  Overall the roof was good but the part with chimney left a bad taste in our mouth, so In our case we would recommend somebody other than Spring Valley."

"Mr haas has worked with us on two houses since Nov, 2011. He was instrumental in helping us uncover all problems associated with 2 houses we purchased since then. He knows his stuff, and my roofing company has a great deal of respect for him, as he assists them in any area he can. He guided the process of fixing problem areas at our Virginia Beach house as well as our Richmond house."

"They completed the job in one day and a month later the roof leaked. They came out a week later as this happened on a Holiday and thought they had fixed the problem, but we continued to have this problem 3 more times, always in the same spot. They finally "fixed" the problem with a lot of calk and it has not leaked again, but only time will tell. They did respond quickly everytime I let them know it was leaking, but it is very frustrating to pay for a new roof only to have it continue to leak."

"Crew showed up at 07:10 am and began immediately. Foreman was excellent and kept crew on task the entire time. I have a large roof (45 squares) and I never thought they would get it done in one day. They finished roofing job at 07:30 pm including excellent job cleaning up. Yes found some nails, but considering how many were taken off, give them an A for the clean up. Went with oversized gutters and they look really nice. So far, very happy with them. Superior Exteriors was great to work with, especially Ryan Thank you Superior Exteriors!!"

"Working with Travis was so easy! He came to our house to inspect the damage and came back to meet with the adjuster. His crew showed up exactly when they were scheduled, worked efficiently and did excellent work. Our siding and roof look amazing!! I would absolutely use them again for work in the future and have recommended them to a few friends. Thank you, Travis!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Pilot-Mound, IA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
