Customers say: Super punctual

"Working with L&L was a very positive experience.  They were professional and responsive throughout the entire process.   A previous contractor failed to properly flash the chimney when he  installed a metal roof.  As a result, a signification amount of water was coming into the building. L&L fixed this issue in a timely matter and the quality of work was excellent. In addition, they were conscientious about cleaning the yard and building when they completed the task.

"3 Son’s Siding & Gutters LLC did my roof about four months ago. They came and gave me a price that was more than fair…3 Son’s were very professional, work very safely. They stripped two layers, found that they had to get plywood and replace the whole roof, it was a bit more but they did the plywood, re-shingled the roof in the one day.i was very impressed with the way all the workers did what needed to be done. The job was done in a day and a half, all the mess was picked up went around the house with magnets picking up all the nails. All I can say I believe they are very professional, very concerned about how my property was left I think it was cleaner than when they started.Very good crew did a great job couldn’t be any happier. "Chris is a pleasure to work with. He showed up quickly after my call and was up on our roof looking for causes of several leaks we had. His assessment was thorough and he took the time to explain in detail our roof situation including issues with the structure underneath the shingles. He was willing to simply fix our leaks but also offered his opinion of the entire roof and other problem areas. His quote was prompt, had great detail on scope of work and was very competitive. He was able to fit our job in quickly. Also want to thank Chris for his willingness to work with our Home Warrantee Insurer who was difficult and required several hrs. Of his time on the phone to gain approvals. His crew showed up as promised on time, set up quickly and were removing the old roof within an hr. Of arrival. They did a great job and clearly know what they’re doing. Chris was on the job and on the roof overseeing the work and making sure everything went perfectly, which it did. His lead guy was professional and his crew stayed busy throughout the job. They did a thorough cleanup after day 1 which was nice. Chris also walked around the house several times as did his crew making sure the final cleanup was complete. Appreciate the effort. I not only would hire Able again, but have already given Chris’s name to several people in my family. We’ve gotten several compliments already on the roof and gutters so a final BIG thanks to Chris and his crew for a job well done. You won’t regret hiring Able for your roofing needs."

"They were very good. They came right away. We called them to possibly do a new roof. It was a lot of snow and he came within 12 hours. He was literally on somebody's roof when I called them. He was just so nice. He was an A."

"Sergie, from Alliance Home Improvement, arranged a convenient time to discuss the Energy Star windows that we purchased through Angie's List. Sergie extended the deal price to all of our windows which came to 11 windows. Back in December, we had an Energy Audit to determine the areas we may be losing heat in the house. The windows and the kitchen entry door were the main issues. We told Sergie about the kitchen door and we wanted to replace it. Sergie told us to go to Home Depot and pick out the door, pay for it and he will install it for free. On January 31, Sergie and his 2 workers arrived on the mutually agreed day and began immediately installing the windows. Sergie went to our Home Depot and picked up the kitchen door. The 2 workers were very professional, quick and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner when they finished installing 11 windows and removing the old kitchen door and installing the new kitchen door.. We could not be more pleased with the work and the price. We would highly recommend Alliance Home Improvement! They were thorough, punctual and great to work with!"

"Here's my story. I built most of my home and roofed or reroofed it over the last 30 years. It was time to the entire house once more. I've reached the point where I had no interest in hauling shingles up a ladder on my "free" time. Enter Angieslist. I contacted some 8 roofers or roofing companies with reviews with "A" ratings. Yes I read the reviews. Some sent sales people to sell me on the materials. Some came to look it over. Few actually measured. Dave calls and says he can stop by a Sunday. Perfect. He's the only guy who actually goes up on my roof. I asked all the others. Not one felt the need to. Hmmm. I want to show them my problem areas. I did tell them I built a large part of my house. Nope they'll spitball it. I'm pretty picky about the work I have done. [Engineer by trade]. I also want the guy I talking with to be on site while the work is done. Sending me a salesman is not what I want. I don't care about warranties. Like I'm going to get into a lawsuit with GAF. Use quality, name brand materials and I'm good. I also don't need some college kid or other on my home. So long story short I hire Dave. He does everything and more. On time. Professional. Cleans up every day. I liked him so much that some siding needed replacement and he came back and did that between other jobs. My only gripe is that he's so popular [with good reason] that I had to wait a couple months. Wish he installed driveways..."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Pine-Meadow, CT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
