"Aleh was wonderful from start to finish of our project. He gave us suggestions of where we could find reclaimed barnwood mantle pieces. He also gave recommendations of what the best stone was to use. He always arrived on time and was very professional. His work was exceptional and looks absolutely beautiful now that it is done. We would absolutely use him again for future projects."

"Horrible Experience. I contracted with Blackwood Group, LLC in July 2024 for a driveway demolition, wall build and decorative stamped concrete driveway installation. During the course of the project, representatives of Blackwood lied to me, screamed at me, hung up on me, used profanity directed at me, sent a crew that refused or didn’t know how to follow the engineering drawings or guidance from Versa Lok for the wall build, and generally made the project a miserable experience. The job was not completed in a workmanlike manner and to the quality that was described in the contract. The work stopped in August 2024. The quality of the work was so poor that Pete Blackwood (owner of Blackwood Group) came onsite to look at it and agreed that it needed to be ripped out and re-done. He agreed that he would do that. Pete spent the Fall of 2024 attempting to find a suitable contractor that could complete the job but was not successful. Additionally, there is damage that the Blackwood Group work crew caused to the front of our house - concrete spatter on front door, concrete spatter on the front trim (newly painted) around door, concrete spatter on the brick front of the house, and concrete spatter on a planter. Blackwood Group work crew also damaged our in-ground sprinkler system so that the zone near the front of the house doesn't work any longer. As of today, no work to fix the issues has been done. We had paid him $37600. He offered to refund $18650 and stated that he still wants to do the work and then when complete, we would pay him the remaining amount outlined in the contract. He did refund $18650. He informed us 2 weeks ago that Blackwood Group was for sale and he was in talks with a buyer. At that point, we told him that we want all of our money back. Pete has agreed to refund the balance back to us, but has yet to refund us. He still owes us ~$19000 not including the legal fees that we have incurred because of this situation. In summary, I DO NOT RECOMMEND."

"We initially contacted The Patio and Fireplace since they were the original installer on our new home 19 years ago and had checked it 6 years ago. We were told that since it is over 15 years old they refused to service it but we were told of a $200 coupon that we could use toward the purchase of a new fireplace. We then contacted Ferguson Free Energy in Mars and they agreed to come out to our home in Kennedy township. Gary the owner, is professional, knowledgeable and most importantly, HONEST. We told him that it would shut down intermittently and he diagnosed the issue immediately as a faulty electrical connection. He also vacuumed, cleaned the glass replaced the embers and even painted a scratch that was on the unit. We definitely recommend them to anyone having an issue or in need of a fireplace because of Gary’s knowledge, and honest business practice. Simply put instead of Holmes on Homes he’s the Ferguson of Fireplaces!"

"Lee's crew completed the job as expected, and we are very pleased. They showed up early and stayed all day for almost 5 days. Every day they cleaned up, and kept everything as orderly as possible. We had a challenging scaffold setup on one, and his crew erected a large scaffold setup to go over a fence and not hurt a blueberry bush. Lee kept me up to date as he applied for a COVID variance, but then had to wait for PA to go Yellow before he could return to work."

FAQs for pre fabricated fireplace unit installation projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Cleaning your gas fireplace insert is essential for efficient operation and safety. Gas fireplaces must be cleaned every six months to eliminate soot buildup and maintain clear viewing surfaces. The cleaning process involves thoroughly wiping the glass, brushing and inspecting the logs, and vacuuming the entire firebox. Consistent maintenance preserves both performance and appearance while extending the life of your appliance.

Determining if your fireplace is gas-powered is straightforward. A gas fireplace displays a visible vent that routes exhaust directly outside and is connected by dedicated gas lines rather than a wood storage area. In addition, gas models will feature distinct burners and igniters while lacking the residue or log storage found in wood-burning setups. Recognizing these characteristics assists in proper maintenance and ensures that safety protocols are observed.
