"Stephen and Cory were very professional, courteous, timely, and very thorough. Their attention to detail was very good. Stephen always let me know what was happening in terms of scheduling. The cost of the project was very competitively priced and a real value. Stephen was able to finish the job in less time than he had originally indicated. I would highly recommend them for any of your painting needs."

"We moved into a new house, and it was really bland in terms of color. The house is a classic farmhouse, and there was some charm in the wood bannister and moldings, but I wanted some color to better bring out the character. Erika with Birdie & Brush really helped envision my hopes into color choices that my hubby and I could agree on. Now, we’ve got a beautiful mustard living room, a soft blue master bedroom, and my rich pink office. And speaking of my office— it had once been a kid’s bedroom, and the walls had been pretty gross— lots of weird bumps around the room. Erika went through and smoothed everything out before painting (see pics). We’re getting ready to start a studio addition project soon, and I will definitely be giving Birdie & Brush a call when its time to paint!"

"Nate was very professional and his crew was hardworking and very skilled. My project involved some pretty difficult exterior painting and they had no trouble reaching the hard spots. They were also kind enough to clean my gutters while they were up there! I’d definitely work with them again. My house came out great!"

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Portland, ME

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
