"This was a nightmare. They did not prep the countertops well and when they sprayed them, they did a horrible job with bumps and clumps everywhere. The worst part is that there is overspray all over our cabinets, walls, and flooring. We are going to have to repaint our walls and cabinets and find something to try to get the overspray off the floors. They also got the spray on their shoes and then when they walked through the house left shoe prints on the wood floor. We have more work to do after they left than we did before they came. Thankfully we got our money back but now have to get new countertops and redo some of the wok that was already done in our kitchen. EXTREMELY terrible."

"J Stevens was quick to give a quote and get us on the schedule. Workers were very professional, paid attention to detail and put in long hours, whenever possible. We are very pleased with the final product, which included painting the exterior of the house, staining the front door and back deck, as well as painting the garage floor. We would definitely recommend J Stevens and would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Based on customer reviews, and at first contact I was happy that I met this contractor. However, overtime my trust in him quickly dwindled. The estimate for Painting and replacing my gutters were ok. However when it cam to repairing the deck (replacing the main support board, joists, and front railing) he quoted me $1800 citing the price of lumber (not to mention that while onsite I looked up and priced the materials which would have cost no more than $200. Additionally, he wanted to charge an extra $1200 to stain an average size deck on top of $1800 to repair the deck (you would think I asked him to replace the deck). My biggest issue with him is that he doesn't make full disclosure upfront. After waiting about 2 weeks to get an updated quote from him, he calls me the night before to say that 35% will be required upfront because he can't keep fronting every job he does. He has no problem fronting his investors job, but when it comes to individuals it seems as if he picks and chooses which job he wants to pay up front. After going back and forth on that issue, he then asks me how will I make payment, once I told him credit card he advised there would be a 3.5% convivence fee added and that the prepayment, as well as the surcharge were stated at the bottom of the quote. When I advised him that neither of theses were at the bottom of the quote he originally sent me, he decides to take a screenshot from his phone and sends it to me. The reason that this is a problem, is that previously I had asked him to put all disclosures up front, when he agreed to meet me at home depot and failed to show up due to his wife having a flat tire, but then sent a text 2 hours later. He made an effort to make up for that so I decided to continue business with him. However, I can't do business with a company that doesn't make full disclosures upfront, picks and chooses who will have to make partial payment upfront, and want to charge the cost of using a credit card to the customer. Ultimately the best decision was for us to part ways."
