"They did an excellent job and I have no complaints. They gave us an estimate and it cost what the estimate was. There were no extra charges and they came when scheduled. They cleaned up afterwards. We were satisfied with their work. I didn't get any other bids so I don't know how the price compared."

"To begin with, Moyer's provided the design and detailed information on what they proposed to do. This included a well-written quote and a visual presentation at their facility that included a depiction of our house and the plantings that they proposed to provide. We then worked with them then through two revisions, primarily, in scope but which also included some changes to the plants. They were very cooperative and responsive during this design stage.
The work included removal of the existing plantings, transplanting of a few of the existing plants that were still healthy, and new shrubs, trees, and flowers. It also included removal of the existing plastic edging and gravel, and replacing with new edging and shredded bark much.
The work was done in a timely and professional manner and we are very pleased with the result.
We had a total of three bids and the other two bidders appeared to cost less. However, their bids were not as comprehensive in their description of the work and so it was difficult to know for certain how the prices compared. That, and the fact that Moyer's provided a great visual presentation of their design were the deciding factors in selecting them.
"

"Olson Toon (formerly Olson Wills - and quot;OTand quot;) did the original landscaping on our house while it was under construction six years ago. The landscape architect was very easy to work with, they did a great job on planning our yard, and we received lots of compliments on their landscaping work.
OT also seeded our lawn and that turned out much less well, at least initially. Before much of the grass seed had sprouted, we got a big storm that washed out a lot of the grass seed in my yard, OT confirmed they would reseed without further charge to us, but then it took several weeks (in the crucial autumn growing season, too) to get them to come out and do the re-seeding. It seemed that a lot of what sprouted that fall was vegetation other than grass.
The following spring, the seeded portion of my yard was a mass of weeds - at least 40% clover, less than half actual grass. I called to OT to complain about it and was referred to the owner's son, who I believe was named Steve or Scott Olson. He promised he'd come out to look at the yard, but after multiple weeks and multiple telephone calls from me, he never got around to it. I had to complain rather loudly to the receptionist that my yard was looking awful and I was going to start telling people that Olson Wills had seeded it with weeds before I finally got a call back from young Mr. Olson. He came out to my yard, met with me, and agreed that it was bad and told me he would send out his weed control specialist and recommended that I sign up for OT's regular lawn fertilizing and weed control service. No one came out again for weeks and I left repeated messages, finally leaving a message that I was going to complain to Olson's dad and file a BBB complaint if he didn't get something done. Mid-July, over two months after I had initially contacted OT about the weeds, someone finally came out to spray the weeds and apply an herbicidal fertilizer. I had low expectations.
Surprisingly, within a few days I saw lots of dying clover and weeds in my yard. After about 20 days, almost all of the weeds in my yard were not only dead but being replaced by grass. Within six weeks, I had a very full yard of grass almost entirely free of weeds - I could not believe how effective their treatment had been. We signed on for OT's full-service lawn treatment program that we've continued to the present and up until the summer of 2013, had a nicer, thicker lawn free of weeds than almost anyone else in the neighborhood, including those who use lawn care services like Weed Man, and I believe OT is less expensive than those services - we are paying about $200 a year for fertilizing and weed control services that includes one spring application, two summer applications, a fall application and spot treatment.
There have been a few minor issues since 2008. This past summer, their weed control program has not been as effective as in prior years (I'm not sure if this is an issue with the personnel applying the herbicide or a change in chemicals) and I've had to dig a good 30 or 40 dandilions out of my yard by hand. They once aerated my yard and tried to charge me for it when I had specifically declined the service at the beginning of the year. And one other thing they do that is somewhat annoying is that they do not give any warning about when they are coming. It would be nice to have a few day's notice so that I could do a yard patrol cleaning up after my dog or I could make sure my grass is mowed. I believe one time they came right after I had gotten back from a lengthy vacation followed by rains, had not yet been able to mow my lawn for a while and the grass was probably quite a bit higher than would have been optimal for weed control. This may be part of the reason why I had more weeds during the summer of 2013 than in prior years.
However, the really bad service I got from the owner's son is now over half a decade in the past and I can recommend their fertilizing and weed control services. At my old house, I attempted to use products by Scott's and by Menard's for weed control and never had much luck with it. In contrast to my experiences on my old house's lawn, OTand quot;s weed control works and their fertilizer has given me one of the nicest lawns in the neighborhood. My next door neighbor started having a massive weed problem, he asked me what service I use and he then began using OT with excellent results, too. I don't have any recent experience with their landscaping service, but the landscape architect with whom we worked in 2007 was extremely helpful and had excellent ideas. So this is by no means a perfect business, but I recommend them and continue to use them for my lawn service.
"

"They did a great job! Their bid was not the lowest, but it was very competitive and very comprehensive with a lot of attention to detail and the small difference in price between them and the lowest bidders was well worth it. They offered us several alternative proposals for our consideration after talking with us about different ways the job could be done. That gave us a good comfort level that everything was being done carefully in terms of engineering the project for structural integrity, energy loss and weather seal. Especially in terms of specifying the best windows we could get that had the features we wanted for a severe northern exposure in a cold climate [Marvin].
We appreciated the fact that the company acted as the turn-key general contractor for the entire job, and that when the job was finished, they were also able to handle all of the exterior landscaping so that once the remodeling was finished, the outside work would also be accomplished by the same company rather than sub contracted to another firm. It was a good thing, because placing the windows involved figuring out how far down the wall we could go to keep the grade above frost level while at the same time ensuring for proper pitch for drainage and sight lines in front of the retaining walls to preserve the views.
The project involved removing the earth from the lower level of the house, cutting through the existing 8 inch concrete walls, tearing out the existing interior studs, insulation and drywall and electrical service, installing new, huge four foot wide energy efficient solid glass windows, rebuilding the interior walls, restoring the electrical and finishing off the outside with aluminum wrapped matching trim and sealing everything up to make it weather tight. Then large stone retaining walls were built on both sides of the opening and the yard was restored with the addition of new soil and regrading and seeding.
The concrete cutting was dusty and dirty as you might expect, but they did an excellent job of masking off the rest of the house and containing the cooling water from the diamond saw while cutting the concrete. There was very little in the way of clean up after all of the cutting was finished. The specialized concrete cutting service retained by the company encountered a problem obtaining a straight cut, but the company was able to adjust the framing of the windows to accommodate the new dimension by custom cutting tapered framing to achieve a tight fit.
Once the interior and exterior wall work was completed and the windows were installed, they constructed large retaining walls made of large native stones from a local quarry to match other landscaping in our yard. The rockwork was beautifully done, with a lot of attention to appearance as well as professionally constructed to allow for proper drainage. The stonemason worked with us as the wall was being built so that we were happy with the sizes, shapes and fit of the stones. All of the areas of the yard that were torn up by construction equipment were graded, new soil was added and the entire area was seeded to bring it back to better than original appearance. In addition, the company used leftover stone to create a clever council circle with a fire pit in the middle that is both decorative and functional, featuring a large rock slab table as an added attraction.
The combination of landscaping and remodeling in a single contractor proved to be a winning service that this company delivered very well. Working with them was a real pleasure.
The quality of their estimates, proposals, advice and finished work was outstanding. They were friendly, timely, and professional and fulfilled all of our expectations. And our personal interactions with company representatives was as good as anyone could want. The people working with this company are the kind of folks you are very comfortable with in terms of having them in your home and trusting them to be doing the right thing. They are professional, clean, courteous, consultative and patient. They were very attentive to our concerns as the project progressed, addressed all of our requests, answered our many questions, and made small changes along the way as they and we came up with new ideas and suggestions. Being able to work with a reasonable degree of flexibility within the bid, and being able to expand the project by adding on features with additional time and materials on a rolling basis was a real plus that allowed us to get everything done the way we had hoped it would come out in the end.
One person, who is the owner of the company, coordinated all of the various people who worked on the project. We only had to deal with that person for scheduling and we got daily updates on what was going to happen and who would be here next. Everyone showed up when they said they were going to. All appointments were kept and everything was done on schedule, weather permitting. We did not experience any inconvenience because things were done when they said they would get done and no one was waiting for anyone else to get their part of the job finished before they could start their part.
The project was performed on time as scheduled and slightly under budget. When the project was over, everything was picked up, cleaned up and all neat and tidy, right down to the last chunk of stray concrete, scrap of metal trim and nail. The interior was swept and vacuumed and we were ready to start putting things back into the remodeled space so we could start enjoying the new sunlit view that used to be a dark basement.
We highly recommend that if you are thinking about hiring a construction and remodeling firm, and especially if your project involves the restoration of the landscaping after your project is over or if it involves adding new landscaping features as part of the same project, you should talk with Wisconsin Landscapes and Remodeling. They are an excellent company. Our experience with them was first rate. We will be going back to them again for our next project.

"
