"Jeff did a terrific job remodeling our kitchen, our bathroom, rebuilding a collapsing fence, and then he built a garden shed that could probably house a family of four. I cannot recommend the man or his work more enthusiastically, Common question at our house is, What do we do about future remodels now that Jeff has moved? Fortunately there is not much left to remodel."

"We hired Christie Architecture to design a complete remodel of our kitchen, laundry area, and small full bathroom in our 1907 Four Square in Portland. Lisa was great to work with. She was able to take the vision of our dream kitchen and make it our reality. The original kitchen/laundry area/bathroom space was fairly small, however she utilized every square inch of space to get us all the things we wanted and our kitchen feels so large and spacious. We definitely had some challenges with a 112 year old house and I appreciated her honesty and candor in preparing us for those unknowns. Lisa delivered every element of the project on time and was always available to troubleshoot problems during construction. Our contractor also told us how he appreciated her detailed work and her professionalism. I would definitely hire them again for another design/remodel project."

"From the beginning Ely was extremely professional and upfront about service and cost. I had a problem on my end causing me to cancel and Ey was extremely accommodating. I then needed the service for another vehicle so immediately contacted Ely. The service was extremely quick and exactly as promised. I would highly recommend United Freight to anyone transporting a car, particularly between FL and NY."

"Working with Zack and Scott was great! Even thought this was all done online and over the phone they were accommodating time wise, and even when I asked to include my father on the conference call they were happy to allow him to chime in as well. We started out with a brief consultation describing what they would do, the cost and what we could expect.  Then we did a call where we measured our basement, this was a little tricky as we needed 2 people to do this and we had to tell them our exact measurements, but they made sure we were measuring correctly and that everything added up the way it should, and they took into consideration every nook, cranny and pipe.  Then we meet briefly with Scott to discuss a preliminary layout, how many bedrooms, closets, TV location, bar vs. buffet, couch size that sort of thing. Scott was very knowledgeable and even accounted for bed sizes to make sure there would be enough walking space around any furniture we would want to add.  Then Scott presented us with a final design, this is when he gladly allowed my father to ask questions and get details about the project.  He answered all of our questions about location or outlets, and lights, and even some more detailed questions.  Overall we had a great experience and I really enjoyed working with them.  They listened to us (definitely the most important thing) when we didn't want something they took it out or if we did want something they added it (if they could), they explained why they had made some design choices we weren't as sure about so we could understand why they were important or if we really wanted to do them. <br />"

"The project was essentially a remodel of a circa 1950's beach cabin with a small addition. We chose Baker and Son on the recommendation of our neighbor who had used them to build a detached garage. Our plans were relatively simple at first: build the addition, expand the kitchen, build a new bathroom and create a new entry. As work was underway, it became clear through the advice of Baker and Son that our kitchen was too big and out of scale for the cabin. We ended up eliminating some walls and opening up the cabin in such a way that created one large room but still a separate kitchen, dining and living. It was a huge improvement to the original design. In addition to the interior work, Baker and Son completely overhauled the exterior which included new windows and siding. New structural headers were required because they didn't exist. Also, since the cabin is post and pier construction, they leveled and strengthen the existing structure. Work included new skirting as well. Their attention to detail was very impressive. They are masters at creative problem solving, patient, responsive and positive. They have a very strong sense of design. We were never pressured into quick decisions. The contract arrangement for our project was essentially time and material because formulating a bid on an old cabin remodel would involve too many unknowns. We agreed to a fair hourly rate and all material and subcontracted work we paid directly with no additional overhead or fee. This saved us money. Since we lived out of town, Baker and Son were so well connected with various vendors and subcontractors, it simplified making arrangements. Now that our project is complete, we are so excited about the end result! We would highly recommend using Baker and Son Construction for any project."

"From start to finish Mark was responsive to our needs.  He educated himself on the requirements for adding a sun room onto a manufactured home.  He adjusted quickly to any changes we requested and offered suggestions on custom features to make the room an outstanding feature in our home.  He did all this and stayed withing the price he quoted us. <br />"

"The entire process was fantastic! We worked closely with one of their designers to get exactly the configuration we wanted. Then the delivery and install went really well. When one of the doors was accidentally put in backward, they happily came back and fixed. Could ask for better. We are now planning another kitchen remodel and will definitely use them again."

FAQs for remodel to accommodate a disability projects in Pullman, WA

Standard Medicare coverage often doesn't extend to home modifications, such as roll-in showers. In specific circumstances where medical necessity is clearly established, limited coverage might be available through certain Medicare programs. Many homeowners explore alternative funding sources such as home modification grants, veterans' benefits, or specialized financing programs designed for accessibility improvements. Consulting with a Medicare representative about your specific situation provides the most accurate guidance.

Roll-in showers deliver significant benefits beyond their monetary return, particularly in terms of safety, independence, and long-term accessibility. By eliminating barriers to bathing, these installations help prevent falls while accommodating mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers. Their open design creates a contemporary appearance that appeals to many homebuyers. For households planning to age in place or accommodate family members with mobility challenges, the functional advantages often outweigh pure financial considerations.

A standard roll-in shower installation takes two to four days. Projects requiring extensive renovation or plumbing changes may take longer, potentially extending to several weeks or months. Factors affecting the timeline include existing bathroom configuration, permit processing times, contractor availability, and material delivery schedules. Creating proper drainage slopes often requires additional preparation time compared to traditional shower installations, particularly when modifying existing floor structures.
