"Hunter reviewed our plans and made some additional recommendations. We still owned the process and he did his best to create our vision out of hardscape material. He was prompt to come out and gave a very detailed estimate, breaking down materials and service. There was no doubt what was included in the quote. There were other firms that quoted the project at a lower price that did not get the job because their quote was too ambiguous. When it came to the installation, they were prompt, detailed and clean. Within three days they were complete. At the end of each workday the cleaned up and left the site presentable. We received great value and great service. We are delighted with HDR Landscaping’s work and highly recommend them"

"The job was done well.  The finished product matches the existing drive.  Of all the drives that were widened, mine looks the best.  They also moved my mailbox and set it in concrete. <br /> I had requested estimates from other contractors.  Campbell's responded quickly and had one of the best prices.   They did not try to hit me for any additional charges."

"It helped save my life. I recently lost my Husband and his income. My air conditioner went out. My Windows are painted shut. So I thought about adding screens to the burglar iron doors. My Husband was the epitome of a Handyman. With him suddenly and unexpectedly dead and his income too, I felt helpless but not hopeless. I put a request in on Angie’s list. Got four calls. One couldn’t help. One I couldn’t afford. One kept promising to come but did not. But “Handyman” Bidwell Company made and kept an appointment with me, accessed the job, went and priced the cost, provided a reasonable cost that I could afford, accepted the job, made the frame and screens. Today I opened both the front porch and side Carport doors and let God’s breeze of fresh air circulate my lungs and my home, I feel pleased and wonderfully blessed to be able to breathe in my home especially since I suffer from acute asthma. I appreciate their quick turn around, their courteous customer service and professionalisms. Sending a special Thank you to the Bidwell Company and a special “Thank You” to Sawyer Bidwell. Thank You Cynthia Kellum"

"I was very pleased with the work JRLA did on our house. Using a combination of techniques they solved my drainage problems and greatly improved the appearance of two entrances to my home. The solutions were well designed and built for what I think was a very reasonable price. Improvements included: <br />Installing a French drain to redirect water around the house and safely away through the side yard <br />Rebuilding and repointing portions of a large brick patio at the front entrance to direct water away from the house <br />Moving downspouts and creating a drainage system to carry water from the roof safely away from the house <br />Laying a vapor barrier in an infinished crawl space of the basement <br />Pouring a reinforced concrete slab (for trash cans) and rebuilding a portion of the side entrance patio to improve the appearance and drainage. <br /> <br />The design was attractive and very effective. The build was fast and professional, about 3.5 days. My drainage problems have all been solved! <br />The original estimate for this job was about $5,000. As we worked through the design, I added several items to the job. Mr. Russell kept me informed of budget changes and gave me easy to understand choices along the way. The final cost was about $8,000, but the increase was all discussed as I requested the additions to the job. <br /> <br />My largest concerns were to resolve my water issues and to rehabilitate the 64 year old brick patio. A second concern is that I wanted the work to blend with the house- not look like new construction tacked on to an old house. It looks great and fits with the original design of the structure, which was very important to me because it is a historic home. <br /> <br />Mr. Russell is a licensed Landscape Architect, so he really knows what he's doing. He has a good crew that did excellent work and cleaned up, took care of the punch list, and really left a good impression. He charges for design, but waives it if you choose to have him do the construction. My advice is to schedule enough time up front to get a good design that's just what you want. It's well worth it because they have the knowledge and experience to steer you in the right direction. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Quinton, AL

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
