"Superior Drain and Home Repair far exceeded our expectations, which were based on our dealings with other home repair companies in the past. We initially brought them in to repair a leaky shower; but once we saw the quality and diligence of their work, we ended up going with them on a major remodeling of our home: with a complex shower repair, designing and building a large kitchen island, cabinets, beautiful pendant lighting, etc. We could not be more pleased with the result! They are also highly professional, with fair and accurate cost estimates, punctual service, and, most importantly, taking genuine pride in their work. Much of the project involved extensive tile installation and so we were very fortunate to have had someone as highly skilled as Johnny Lucchesi heading up that job. Johnâ s attention to detail and imaginative design ideasâ which border on the artisticâ produced stunning results. A really a superlative group of people to work with. I highly recommend them."

"We called based on prior feedback on Angie's List.  Very personable owner took care of job and done per schedule and high quality.  Only on issue, my exact room measurements vs. his "ballpark" estimate were way off.  He measured exactly and came in very close to my estimate and did the work for that square footage.  Measure your own rooms to insure the right price/sq. ft.

"Jay did an outstanding job helping out at my 95 yr old grandmotherâ s mobile home. I needed someone asap to install a new toilet and repair an outside stair railing. Jay was the only handyman available the 4th of July weekend. He also installed a new ceiling fan/light the same day.. we are having Jay back to replace some linoleum, install a new garbage disposal and to continue the wonderful work he does! Trustworthy, reliable and charges a very fair rate.. I highly recommend Jay and his company!!"

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Reno, NV

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
