"I was very nervous about taking on such a large project being a single person. After reading great reviews on Angie's List (thank you) and doing further research I called BSW. Mr. Luis Cervantes came out the next day. He immediately set my mind at ease discussing in full what all my roof repairs would need and going over costs. Estimated time for work to be completed was one month. When he mailed the bid and contract, he also mailed photos of my roof and explained what needed and would be done along with a copy of their Contractor's License. These things eased my mind and helped my decision in hiring this company. Upon start of work, all the workers were professional, answered any questions I had, and took great care in protecting my property. Mr. Cervantes would stop by daily also to make sure I was satisfied with the work and answer any questions along the way. I witnessed daily them all taking great pride in their work, and cleaning up nightly after a days labor. I was pleasantly surprised when the job was completed a week before the estimated date. Upon doing the work more damage was noticed and Mr. Cervantes explained in detail the need of that repair and the added cost before going ahead with the work, which I greatly appreciated. Also he showed me photos he had taken of the roof needs. My roof looks great and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to others."

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

"Excellent work!  I would not call it "handyman" effort - Mr. Samuel performed total "construction" work to my kitchen.  It doesn't look the same. <br /> <br /> 1.  I had one main light in the kitchen.  He RAISED the ceiling, added 12 recessed lights and two ELECTRICAL outlets that control <br /> all lights - rows - in 3 different options. <br /> <br /> 2.  Installed an island for cooking prep, with adequate storage spaces, and electrical units on each end of the island!!  <br /> <br /> 3.  Installed floor tiling and refinished cabinets and doors. <br /> <br /> 4.  Kitchen sink, disposal, and  faucets installed. <br /> <br /> DON'T >> I tried to get him to take a break and he stay persistent and diligent to accomplish the tasks at hand.  He was definitely <br /> underBID and I didn't mind paying him more...  So ecstatic of the results and have made several referrals to see other clients! <br /> <br /> 5.  He was so professional, mannerable and clean.  Never had to go behind him to tidy up."

"It's a lease, so I pay monthly. I pay per kilowatt. My system generates about 19,000 to 20,000 kilowatts per year. Basically, I'm prepaying my electricity if I had it through Edison. Solar allows me to pay a flat rate for an X amount of power and anything extra, I use from my power company. The majority of my power comes from solar at a fixed rate. I have a 3500 square foot house and  two air conditioners, during the summer, if I run them all day, my electric bill was $850 to $900 a month. Solar cut it down to one-third of that. Green Converges is a really good company and I have referred them to three other people. I was very happy with all of their work and they were professional. The installation was very good."

"Mike is a careful craftsman who take great pride in the quality of his work. He is dissatisfied with anything less than perfection. The tile floor project was particularly difficult because we had removed the prior terrazzo floor, which left a very uneven surface. The tile we selected did not have a beveled edge, so it had to be laid perfectly flat. In addition, we had an elevation change between the kitchen and entryway that Mike had to adjust for. He did a beautiful job. The largest project was the carport/garage conversion, and it was beautifully done. Again, we had a sloping surface where the "man" door was installed, and Mike adjusted the threshold perfectly. He is an expert with doors. We appreciate Mike's craftsmanship, creativity, and problem-solving skills. We obtain two other estimates for the carport/garage conversion component of this project, and Mike's was the best price, too. **I do not know why Angie's List placed my review under "Roofing." This provider did not do roofing for us, but I don't see where I can change that designation.** <br />"

"Very prompt, polite, and friendly.  Checked in frequently to answer questions and verify what was needed.  All repairs completed well and price was reasonable.  Will definitely use again!  I was referred to this company by a satisfied neighbor who used them. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Richgrove, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
