"I would not hesitate to recommend D& M Repair to anyone!! Danny came when he said he would, looked at my dishwasher and said that the piece of rubber coming off was just noise canceling and took it off for me. He checked the dishwasher to make sure it ran okay before he left. Best part was that he said because it was so minor, that he would not charge me! Something that you never hear anymore; that’s for sure!! I will be calling him in the future and recommending highly to people I know. "

"Man sent to do various odd jobs in Germantown--install blinds, TV mount, cabinet, etc.--was efficient and easy to communicate with. Did exactly what I needed with quality work and kept me informed of any problems he encountered. Price was reasonable."

"We hired RP Renovations to fix a project that had been done poorly by a previous contractor, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From the start, the contractor was professional, punctual, and clearly very knowledgeable about his trade. He quickly assessed the problems, explained what needed to be done, and delivered high-quality work that corrected the earlier mistakes. Throughout the project, he showed great attention to detail and took real pride in doing the job right. He was always on time, worked efficiently, and kept the workspace clean—cleaning up thoroughly at the end of each day. It’s not always easy to find someone you can trust after a bad experience with another contractor, but RP Renovations restored our confidence. The work turned out excellent, and we would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for skilled, reliable, and professional renovation work."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Rockville, MD

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
